The correct part number and serial number of the pace boxes is on the bottom of the unit for all of you who have been asking.

I will keep my fingers crossed that Guy has some success

From the AVS forum on TiVo

Tivo_ted says:

"We are working on a solution. In the short term, it is possible that we will be able to control Pace 4000 series boxes directly and 1000 series boxes with an adapter. I will report back when I know more."

please don't hassle the guy over this - TiVo are working on a solution.

I for one sent back the Telewest Inactive Digital when I bought the TiVo as it was now incompatible with the TiVo and Pronto. I have Analogue cable and will keep it as long as I can.

As for the suggestion of getting Sky which someone suggested earlier in this post, I'd love to but can't. I live in Scotland where we still have feudal law on property. My feudal supperior, Barratt Scotland East, refuse to allow me to put up a dish. They have pretty much implied they will take me to court over it if I do erect one.

well TiVo have anouced last friday 9th feb in London that their TiVo PVR will control the Pace 4000 soon and the Pace 1000 boxes they will be selling a small adapter. sounds good to me as i have a TiVo now so by the time digital comes to my area i will be able to use my RC5000 for all.

Dear all

I have read this thread and may be able to help with respect of the one-for-all avenue (I got upgraded to NTL digital today!). My last universal remote was a one-for-all Topline8 and I can have it upgraded to a new version which apparently will be able to control the Pace. Whether I can use the new Topline to program the pronto (or RC5000 in my case) we will have to wait and see. Don't hold your breath, they did imply that the new remote would be more advanced. If I suceed I will load a CCF with the learned codes. Here's hoping.

It will be about two weeks before I get it. If anybody wants to try themselves the model number of One-for-all remote is URC-7560 (it controls 6 devices). You will need the code 1068 which you must downlaod over the phone from one-for-all customer services on 0800 966194.

As yet, I've had no success with the dongle. I think
it's a Windows problem though. Anyone know of a
terminal emulation package that can use COM5?

There is a DOS emulation program that works on my w2k machine (at least for com1) called TELIX it has a screen where you configure the com? IRQ and port addresses for com1 to com8. Its fully working shareware, try this link [Link: zdnet.com]
It is more than just a basic comms program it supports a scripting language and other stuff. and it is only a 500k download

Hope this allows you to find a solution for all us desperate pace owners

Can't help thinking that PACE are the folks who should be fixing this problem. There are millions of Universal remotes out there that won't work with their new box. They should have built in standard and IRD receivers in the system to support todays technology and whatever bright ideas the cable companies will try to sell next. Maybe they already have with the latest rev. but they really messed up!.

Unfortunatly Pace were working to a customer specification and did not chose the IR system.

The IR system is the one used by Two Way TV (www.twowaytv.co.uk) which is the STB platform that
Telewest and others selected.

Hi guys

Just checked my model number for my NTL box and it is a DITV-2000. Is this a new one? It still will not work with the pronto though :(

Have they introduced a new model and not allowed for the basic functions to be used with the standard IR frequency?

Jeeze do they listen to all the people on these boards etc.

Hi All,
Yep, I fell into the same hole.
I own a Pace DITV1000 set top box,
I've just treated myself to a RC5000i and guess what; it doesn't work..
What I have found is that a one for all remote does work (almost).
I've had problems with my first one for all remote, but a second one is winging it's way to me today, I'll try it and advise if it works.
The remote number is URC7451 digital.
If this does work, then why doesn't the all singing, all dancing RC5000i ?

EUREKA!!! I think I have found a solution. Having had no joy sending ntl cable codes for my PACE D14001N Digibox to my RC5000, and having read the endless messages on this site, I gave up. However... this morning I decided to resurrect my old DENON RC-134 learning remote and try something. The DENON remote has successfully (as I write) learned 3 test codes. My RC5000 has learned these OK, and now operates the relevant buttons on my PACE Digibox.
So... perhaps my RC5000 was just not in a learning mood when I tried before? I have just uploaded its setup to my PC, and tried again - this time direct from my ntl remote. The bloody thing works! The RC5000 sometimes seems to need kicking into action to decide to learn codes - don't know why - and uploading or downloading a setup seems to do the trick. It might sound stupidly simple, but it has worked for me!
I am now going to attempt to load all the commands and see what happens. I have no reason to believe that they will not work. Phew........

There is *no* issue with the D14001N cable box. That remote is learnable no problem. It is the other two cablebox models made by Pace that are not learnable (and use IRDA)
