I think this is what he is referring to.

Philips is pleased to announce the introduction of the next generation Pronto at CEDIA Expo 2002 !

We would like to invite you to visit the Philips booth, #109, where we will showcase Pronto TSU3000, the next generation Pronto with 16 gray scales, 4 MB of memory and RF capability.
iPronto, the first product of the Pronto ++ Software and Systems platform will also be demonstrated:

* A product that was developed based on
extensive feedback from custom installers.

* A product to allow installers easy set up of
home network and home automation systems.

* A product that will allow installers to differentiate
through new application offerings.

* A product that unifies customizable flexibility
and the Internet on a large touch screen.

* A product that will enable the next leap
in custom install business.

Check out the iPronto. Pretty cool!

Dave

Pretty cool looking iPronto.

Almost looks like a web tablet.

Hmmmmmm.......kinda looks like an old-fashioned, telescoping antenna there on the upper left corner of the bezel. I bet it's got a tuner in there in case your HT goes on the fritz! An' I sure do hope that's a "Go get me s'mo beer, the car's already started" Button, just below it.

And I'd also bet that that JoyStick someone was hoping for is hidden down in the lower right, behind the 3000!

Heck, seems to have everything 'cept a roll of terlit paper!!

I'm confused...Is the iPronto just the software and they are just showing it ob a demo tablet? Or is it an actual remote?

From what I understand, the device on the left in the picture above, is the iPronto. It uses Pronto++ software to develope what you see on screen and how it behaves and interact with the devices it controls.

But it's what they don't show . . .

1) The forklift that is required to deliver it to your front door.

2) the lengthy Disclaimer you must sign prior to delivery, stating that you will in no way hold Philips or any of it's subsidiaries or upper (or lower) Management or stockholders liable for any back injury or collapsed coffee tables caused as a result of allowing it into your home.

3) The spiffy Lumbar Back Support (with iPronto Logo) provided at no additional cost (further distancing themselves from any damages as stated above).

4) The stand-alone Power Supply/UPS with solar charger (so you won't notice any appreciable increase in your monthly utilities).

5) The heavy duty, industrial strength, motorized, roll-around cart (only $699.99), with detachable robotic lifting arm (and seperate remote control to add even more versatility) needed to really move it around your home and place it anywhere "within arms reach" . . . the robotic arm, that is.!

This looks like an AMX system. Checkout [Link: amx.com]

but this looks much better. Does anyone know, whether this is a tabletop system like AMX home/theater control?

:-P

didn't you know the ipronto is actually a 42" plasma screen remote. You have to use your whole body to control it (watch out it gets hot). And you'll have to stick your head around the screen to watch your movie.
