I was assuming that the codes would be consistant for all the RCA remotes (as they are with UEIC remotes). I have a SystemLink something (don't remember the number, it's 4 or 5). The RCA remote that came with my GE DVD player is only for TV and DVD. I also have the RCU810.

Maybe I'll try resetting the RCU810 and see what the default audio device code is, but I'm expecting it to be the same as 0054 though, that's why I was hoping for a specific code. Let me check it.

Gee Rob - are you online all the time? I've never seen such quick responses.

If you can get a code for the C7 that will duplicate the SystemLink, I think we'll have something.

Yea, the remote that came with my rca dvd also only has tv & dvd (probably the same as your ge unit), but there again, when you press the "tv" button, it will turn on my amp and place it in "TV" mode. IT will also turn it off and operate volume & mute. If the C7 will just do this with a device code, I can live with that. I feel real guilty using up a lot of your time like this. I'm beginning to think a device code with advanced codes too is just a dream for this receiver.

Looking forward to your results.

The default code on the audio button of the RCU810 is a CD code, which is the same as CD/0053 in OFA remotes.

I tested the first 4 or 5 codes listed for tuners and they all correspond to the 0054 code as expected. the advanced codes being:

vol up: 059
vol down: 067
mute: 187

I feel like an idiot here - cuz I must be pretty dense or missing something.

We talked about you testing a code from a remote we both had common access to and that I could confirm had some affect on my receiver. We determined we each had an RCA System Link, so I tried my SystemLink 4, which does work some functions, as I described. I don't have access to an RCU810 and don't know, for sure, if it will run my receiver. I suspect that it may indeed do pretty much the same as the System Link and other RCA remotes, (in which case, this becomes a real mystery) but I can't confirm it without one to try.

If you test your SystemLink against the 810 and it provides the same codes (which you say correspond to the 0054 code), then we know there's something weird with my receiver or something I'm not doing right with this 0054 code.

I again tried setting both 0054 & 0053 to both my "rcvr" and "aux" buttons on my C7. I then tried testing the 059, 067 & 187 advance codes (by tapping the setup button and inputting the code) and got nothing.

I'm sorry - you must be getting pretty tired of this whole thing.

What's the default code on the RCU810 for the tv button? With the code retreivel on my System Link remote I got 048.

I live in Vermont and there isn't any place local that sells an 810 or I'd get one to try.

What do you suggest at this point? I sure wish there was someone watching this thread that had an RCA RV3798 audio receiver and a OneForAll remote. They could easily pinpoint whether this problem is me or the receiver/remote combo.

Thanks again, Walt

Without having both your receiver and remote to test with, I don't think there's much more that i can do at this point. Sorry.

Rob.

Well I appreciate your effort Rob. I'll bet it's a rare instance when you get stumped.

Quick question on the RCU810. Assuming it will run my receiver as the other RCA remotes do and it does have the Dishplayer 1005 code in it, roughly how many learned keys will it accept and what Dishplayer keys appear to be pre-programed in it under that 1005 code?

Should I have put this question under a new thread?

Thanks again
Walt

The RCU810 may well have a code for your dishplayer, but it won't be called "1005" as that's a UEIC code.

The RCU810 has slightly less learning memory than the Cinema 7, and it can't handle advanced codes.

"Less learning memory than the Cinema 7"... that's almost an oxymoron! :-)
