Does anyone know the advanced codes for the Kenwood VR309 DD/DTS Receiver. Device code 0313 only operates a few of the features on my receiver and doesn't allow for switching between all inputs.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Roger, for whatever it is worth, I was having the same problem with my Kenwood KR-V8080 receiver. Her is how OFA told me to fix it. First I programed my RCVR with code 0314. Then enter an advanced code of 300. Then programed the RCVR with codee 0027. This allowed me to use all the functions such as switching between all the inputs.

If you want, I also have many of the advanced codes for 0027. Let me know.

Hope this helps

I have the same problem with my VR209 using device code 0313.

I don't understand the process of entering the advanced code of 300 and then reprogramming the RCVR with code 0027. Can you please explain how you did this?

Thanks

Cliff,

I was checking my notes on how I programed my remote for my Kenwood and all I have written down is: 1) program RCVR w/ 0314
2) input 300
3) re-program RCVR w/ 0027
As I did this a couple of years ago, I will try to reprogram my remote tonight and will explain in more detail later.

I sent an email to OFA asking for more detailed instructions and all she sent me were the codes for device 0314 and said I would have to program another button as that device. I still can't find the code to switch to Video 3 input. Can you send me the codes for device 0027.

Thanks,
Roger

Roger and Cliff, sorry it took so long to get back. As discussed above, I was also having problems switching inputs so here is how I did it for my Kenwood KR-V8080 receiver (I tested it tonight and it worked)

1. programed RCVR with code 0314
2. then assigned a key (such as the TV/VCR key) with the EFC number of 300
3. then reprogramed RCVR w/ code 0027

Then when I hit the TV/VCR key it changed my inputs for the receiver. Also here are my "found" EFC codes for 0027

498 "surround mode"
568 "+10"
578 "band"
370 "stereo"
702 "6"
444 "4"
447 "2"
317 "8"
701 "0" (zero)
450 "7"
704 "5"
707 "3"
449 "1"
577 "9"
384 "tape 2"
252 "mute"
255 "vol down"
512 "power"
515 "vol up"
572 "channel down"
257 "channel up"

let me know if this helps, I am curious if it works with other Kenwood amps.

Good Luck

Nope...the procedure did not work with my VR-209.

In fact, my Cinema 7 will not transmit a power on/off signal when programmed with the 0314 code. Code 0313 is the only one that works. Also, for some unknown reason my C7 will not learn from the Kenwood remote.

I think your amp has more than one set of IR codes and the procedure changed the code set much like the double set of IR codes in my JVC VCR.

Thank you for the assistance...I'm thinking amp upgrade time ;-))

This problem has dogged me to. I have a Kenwood VR-209, with its terrible stock remote (also make by one-for-all). I had the non-learning producer 8 and could not get past this. I could select VCR, CD, Tuner, Phono, but not SAT. I was using code 0313, and got the advanced codes from one-for-all, all to no avail.

Realizing that I would need a learning remote, I got the new Radio Shack 15-1994 (I had to drive to Buffalo from Toronto because it is not available in Canada). This remote is generally considered identical to a one-for-all Cinema 7, and works with all the same codes. I just got it last night. The bad news is that 0313 and 0314 don't work with the remote, in fact I cannot find any code that works with the VR-209. The good news is I can learn everything I need. It seems to me that the OEM Kenwood remote puts out specific codes to switch the video inputs as you push the video button multiple times. Anyone using this remote knows how much easier it would be if it had separate source buttons.

Learning the SAT code was a challenge. Here's what I did: During the learning sequence the read light begins to strobe, indicating that it is ready to receive the code you want it to learn. Once the target key (key to be learned to) has learned the command, you can push it again and the light will begin to strobe again, indicating that you can change what was learned. First, I positioned the new Radio Shack remote between the receiver and the OEM Kenwood remote. Then I Learned the first input command (VCR on mine), then pushed the target key again and learned the next input command, which is the one I wanted. I watch the receiver change input source to indicate what had come out of the Kenwood remote. It worked !!! Now I have programmed the 15-1994 so smart key 1 puts the receiver in VCR source and smart key 2 puts it in SAT source.

I wish there were a way to unlock the secrets of what is stored in that smart key, but I don't know one. I hope this technique can be of some help to you. If you have a producer 8 learner, it will probably work for you. It should work for cliff on his Cinema 7. I will be returning my non-learning producer 8, because the RS 15-1994 is great and at way less money.

Paul.

Paul,

Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

It works perfectly with my Cinema 7. Your procedure is not limited to the smart keys on the Cinema 7, ANY key can be programmed with the Kenwood function codes (so long as the learning remote is between the receiver and the original remote). My C7 uses the 0313 device code, so I only need to learn a few extra functions.

I did a Cut-n-Paste document of your instructions due to my very short memory. It would be nice if all the good procedures in this forum was placed in a FAQ.

Thanks again, Cliff

Thanks everyone for your replies. I finally gave up trying to find an advanced code to select inputs on my Kenwood VR-309. My son had a broken Cinema 6 w/Learning remote which I was able to break into and fix. I played with the learning functionality and liked the way it worked. Yesterday at Best Buy I found an open item Cinema 7 w/Learning that I picked up for $13.00. I took it home and at first it didn't work at all. Then right before I decided to take it back, I thought about doing a reset to factory defaults command, (setup*__**9*8*0**), and the remote works perfectly now. Using the learning capabilities of this remote I now have all my home theater equipment working from the remote.

This forum has been a lot of help. Thank you everyone that has added knowledge to it.

Thanks for the reset to factory command! I have the rat shack version remote and after playing and learning I wanted to wipe it clean and start over programmed correctly. The rat shack manual doesn't list this commmand but does tell how to clear one key at a time. PITA that would have been.
