Does anyone know a UNIVERSAL Remote that works home DVD Recorders ?
I have a TOSHIBA DR-2 and a PANASONIC DMR-ES10

I am unable to find a Universal Remote to work these DVD Recorders

I have the One For all URC 8910. I sent it back to Universal twice to upgrade.
But they were unable to get it to work my ES-10.

Universal was very nice, and tried hard, but were unsuccesfull in getitng it to work these units.

Please be kind enough to reply if you know

Thank You

The urc-8910 is phone upgradeable, no need to send it in. Anyways all panasonic players and recorders respond to code 0490. If there are any commands missing, try the advanced codes.

Thank you . I know that. But they were UNABLE to do it by Phone. They requested I send it to them.

I did for the TOSHIBA, then again for the PANASONIC.
The Remote wont function for the RECORD or STATUS buttons.

Most of my learning Keys are already used up

Try searching advanced codes(EFC) for the two missing commands. Have the player in a state that it will respond to the command if it saw it. To search EFC's, tap SET and release, enter 0-0-0, the command won't fire until the third digit. repeat, 001, 002 and up until 255.

Make sure your DVD device is programmed with setup code 0490, and not a code that might have been loaded, and doesn't accept EFC's.

I put a long reply where you asked this same question in the wrong forum:

There you left out the key detail that it is just a few important buttons that aren't working. The setup code basically works.

Probably you just need to understand how to set up KeyMoves (how to bind EFC numbers to keys). Maybe you need to discover the EFC numbers for those functions. But more likely they are the standards used by all the other Panasonic (or Toshiba) models of the same device.

The EFC numbers for record and status are 053 and 234 in every Panasonic model I checked.
