I have set up the remote above for Sky + wihtout a problem but the recording functions are on the scrolled section. Anyone know if there is an alrernative code (to 1175) or can it be enterend as a PVR or something so that the recording functions are on the first screen?

I recently created a WAV upgrade file for my Kameleon URC9960, for my Amstrad Sky+ box (remote code 1175) - I too found the same issue on the Kameleon, where the recording functions are on the scrolled section.

I remade my patch creating the 1175 device as a PVR device, and sent the WAV file to my remote - and sure enough its now a PVR device and not a CBL/SAT device -- that said, i'm not sure i'm wholly happy with this configuration either.

Both WAV files were created using the freely available JP1 software, without a JP1 cable. I've got on order a JP1 cable, so will have a good mess around when I finally receive that.

Sounds brilliant but slightly over my head to be honest!
Could you possibly let me know when you've worked on it to a conclusion you are happy. Are you happy to distribute to others when complete?

It sounds like a generally useful .wav file, so Brian please upload a copy into the folder at
[Link: hifi-remote.com]
when you're done with it (be sure to include the description of how it differs from the standard Sky+ setup code).

Mark, .wav files are specific to a model of remote, so a .wav for the 9960 wouldn't work on an 8206.

I never remember which Kameleon model is which, so I'm not sure what an 8206 is. I don't know if our software even supports it. Maybe one of the other JP1 experts will answer. If our software does support it, making a .wav similar to the one Brian made would be pretty easy.

Ok, will do that, Chasman also asked for a copy in another thread.

What I will do, is await my JP1 cable (which should be with me any day now), then I can spend time 'playing' with the configuration, until I get something i'm happy with. I'll then bundle it into a zip file, with full instructions on how I made it, what changes i've made, and how to use it.

Hope that helps people.

Brian.

It's the G2 Kameleon 6in1

so this is no use for me then, given it's a different model?

Sorry. I didn't mean to imply there was anything more you could tell me about about the 8206 that would tell me what JP1 support exists. Rob would know. I don't.

model?

The .wav file is certainly no use. Depending on Rob or other expert's answer (if we get one), MAYBE the intermediate file used during creation of that .wav file (assumingit's posted as well) would eliminate more than half the effort of creating a different .wav file that would work.

From what I gather (and this is where I started myself), you need a copy of the JP1 software, KM (Keymaster) and IR (the main JP1 program). Get hold of the 1175.RDF file remote definition file, load it into KM (which is an excel spreadsheet), select YOUR model of JP1-remote-control (in your case 8206) .... make any adjustments necessary on the Button mapping page .... then cut'n'paste the Device code stuff to IR (its semi-automated) .... then get IR to generate a WAV file through IR2WAV ... you'll end up with an UPGRADE.WAV, get your remote into modem mode (not sure how to do this on an 8206), and play the WAV file to your remote.

Ok, this is rather generalised, but believe me the guys who created all of this have done 98% of the hard work, just a small bit of knowledge and you can create these yourself.

I will post all of the files for 9960, for the Sky+ remote and all the instructions, and any intermediate files, etc, plus all web-links to all resources used -- but i'll only do this, when I receive my JP1 cable, and I have the time to map everything perfectly.

Hope the above is useful.

Brian.

Get hold of the 1175.RDF file remote definition
file, load it into KM

You must mean 1175.txt
Files defining Setup codes (such as 1175) for KM have the extension .txt

An RDF file defines a JP1 capable remote (and is needed by the IR or RM programs in order to work for that remote). You used a file such as "NAK0NAK0 (URC-9960 One For All Kameleon).rdf" to get IR.EXE to understand your 9960 remote.

select YOUR model of JP1-remote-control (in your
case 8206)

But KM doesn't seem to have a choice for 8206, so probably there is no JP1 support available. But I'm not certain.

Yes you are correct, sorry I never looked back at my files when I posted that message, all this is still fairly new to me.

Just checked KM, you're right - may be worth posting a message on the JP1 forum [Link: hifi-remote.com] ? Is the 8206 known as anything else? Is there an equivalent RadioShack model ??
