I've been playing around with the Cinema 7 and my Yamaha 795a receiver. It looks like the Cinema 7 defaults are kind of hodge-podge. I need to make a nice layout on the remote so that the wife won't go nuts.

Does anyone have any layout suggestions for video/audio inputs and dsp modes with the Cinema 7 for my receiver?

Thanks,
Mark E.

Mark,

I have the Yamaha 2095, and here's what I did:

The default mapping placed the inputs on the numbered keys - I pretty much left those as is. There were no DSP modes mapped at all. Since I don't use a whole lot of DSP modes anyways, I assigned them to the L1, L2, L3, L4 buttons. I did this for each main device - only placing device-pertinent DSP modes on the L keys - sometimes not using all the keys. This allows for up to eight different DSP modes per device selection. I then use the SURROUND button for the main Effect On/Off toggle in all device modes.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Mark,
I have the 795A and the RS 15-1994. Instead of trying to find 8-10 keys for the DSP, I found the code 229 for DSP mode up. I put the 229 on the "Guide" key. Now, I can use 1 key for the DSP modes.

(233 is mode down)

Thanks! and some followup questions...

Thanks Brian and Zhe! I thought I wasn't going to get any responses.

Brian, so you get 8 modes per device (TV/CD/RCVR/DVD/CD/etc.). Do you get 8 by using L1-L4 and a shift L1-L4 (and does "shift" mean the magic or star key)?

Am I right that the L1-L4 keys are different according to the selected device?

Are macro and macro2 the only keys whose function is not dependent on the device selected? (I have power on/off for all programmed into macro.)

Zhe, I like the idea of DSP mode up/down. Didn't know the receiver supported it. I'll give it a try.

Thanks!

I've had this remote for about a week now and love it. Much better than that monster Yamaha remote!

Q1 - is there a list of know descrete code for the yamaha's (I hava a 995).

I too like the dsp up/down option. Which leads to...

Q2 - does anyone know if there's a code for cycling the 'source' up/down. I'm not sure it's supported via remote but the on-receiver control seems to work this way.

Many thanks,
John

I programmed my Rx995's mode-up/mode-down codes to the channel up / down keys of the Cinema 7. Works for me.

John: I'm not aware of a input source cycling code for the 995. For the DSP modes, the cycling codes are 229 & 233 as mentionned above. The discrete codes are:

317 Concert Hall
321 Church
319 Jazz Club
323 Rock Concert
316 Disco
320 TV Sports
318 Mono Movie
322 Theater 1 - 70mm Spectacle / Si-Fi
125 Theater 2 - 70mm Adventure / General
129 DD/DTS/Pro Logic

229 Cycle Mode Up
233 Cycle Mode Down
