My yamaha reciever HTR-5280(same as RX-V800 I think) does not respond to the power button on my one for all remote. I am using code 176.

Any help would be appreciated.

b,
The power toggle is "250". the discrete on advance code is "248", the discrete off advance code is "246". Use the keymove feature or procedure to add it. If you want to use the discretes, you'll need to program one to each of 2 buttons. The toggle would just have to be programmed to one button, may as well use the power button. You could, perhaps, program the discrete on to "power", and the discrete off to "shift-power". If you don't know how to input advance codes, check the manual at rob's site for your remote. Would have helped if you mentioned what remote that was, and I could have given the appropriate explicit instructions. "176" would be appropriate for the P-8 (Producer 8) series as they use 3 digit device setup codes. Most other's use 4 digit device setup codes, so the 0 is significant, and the setup code is actually 0716. Advance codes are 3 digit codes, and zeros are also significant.

I have a homep producer 8 (URC-8090B01).
Why is the code 0716 when you put in 4 numbers instead of 0176.

Thnaks for your help.

I also order the JP1 cable last night. SO that should be fun.

Oops, that's a typo. It is indeed 0176. Fought with that through the whole reply and missed catching it on that last entry. Sorry about not catching that, fingers going faster than brain.:(

"Thnaks for your help." I guess you did the same ;)

You can do the keymoves manually, but JP-1 makes it much easier. Did the advanced codes work for you? Did you settle on the toggle or the discretes?

I have the same problem with my Yamaha rx-v1300 receiver and the 8810w remote. The discrete codes work but not the 250 toggle code. The receiver and remote are new so I'm still learning the in and outs of both.

I've had two Cinema 6 remotes for a couple of years and they work great with my Denon receiver using two device codes.

Does the Yamaha's own remote have a power toggle button? If not, it may not be programmed for this function. If it does, why not just learn it?

My yamaha remote (RAV234) has two buttons, so you likely right about the the toggle not being supported Rob.

The Rav234 remote is actually a decent remote for a mid-range receiver. It supports a number of devices and can learn about 100 buttons. It doesn't have macro capability though.
