I'VE ALSO HEARD OF PROGRAMMERS HAVING HIDDEN PAGES
ON THE REMOTE WITH UNUSED, why am i yelling?....
buttons. so they can be accessed if needed but
arent part of the main configuration.

Agreed....Does this mean you typically include all the functions of the standard remote on your custom configurations for customers?

as a professional i do it this way.... keep it simple stupid..... if its complex use the factory remote.....

because who really wants to use a touch screen and figure out what to push when the factory remote is handy......

macros and basic funtions only on the touch screens.......

i got a nevo sl at home and use my dish remote for power surfing cuz its easier....

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"...

Thanks for your perspective! I had a different expectation of the remote, replace all functions on the factory remote. As I learned, the codes aren't that easy to find and adding all the functions is "out of scope" of a standard custom configuration.

Just for referance I made this great touch screen remote for the EAD TheaterMaster. Now this thing was a cool piece but the remote that they provided was not something the average joe is gonna pick up and understand. So I made Screens and links and macros that made sence for people to use. Now this processor had discrete everything... so I had some pages in there that were sort of power user based. But there where some things that were behind this...

"This mode is ment for advanced users and installers only. It should only be used to change ADVANCED settings. Please have the manual handy before you think of entering this mode. By entering this mode you understand that you can REALLY F___K SOMETHING UP!"

Continue

Get me out of here!

Thats one way I handeled it.

i think you're expectations were right on carrera! my nevo has EVERY function from my original remote (that i use or would ever need of course).

as you said i guess it's really only unpractical if you're a pro (i'm not) programming the remote for someone else so dont have access to the original remotes to learn from. there for meaning you have to try and find codes for many different functions that really the end user isnt going to use that often. so instead of racking up a huge programmng bill its more practical to just use the original remote.
