I want to use my Neo to control my air conditioner but when I change the temperature up and down on the real remote the temperature display goes up and down so I know what its set as. Is there any way to replicate this on the neo as there is no point changing the temperature if you dont know what it is.

are you saying that the AC remote has a display on it that shows the temperature??? Or does the AC itself display the temp? If it is the remote, that would imply a 2-way communication btwn the AC and its remote...and neo can't do that.

Yes the display is on the remote. I just assumed it was a simply counting sequence so everytime you pressed up the display went up one and vice versa but you could be right. Thanx for your quick reply

Is it posible to make a button count up or down? I just thought about it for a volume control. You could set a base value and have it count up or down from there. As long as no one jacked with the manual control all would be cool.
Sorry, I don't mean to hijack your post but the answer may help us both.

Thanks,
Eric

well, you could make seperate pages on your AC device for each temp setting. For example, if the normal setting was 70deg you could make the main page with a 70deg logo and an up and down button on it. Then if you pressed the UP button you could have the remote go to the 71 page. then that up button could go to 72 page and down back to 70 and so on....

you would run into a problem if you left the AC page and went back to another device page. There would be no way to "remember" which AC page you were on.

the other problem would be that you'd have to always reset the AC back to your starting temp before shutting it down otherwise you would be screwed up. You could do that by having an OFF macro on each page that would drop the temp back to 70. ie if you were at 72deg and hit OFF it would do a temp down twice, jump to the 70 page and then shut off the AC.

I think the AC remote actually send the set point to the AC unit, not just an up or down command. With my de longhi unit, I can change the temp setting on the remote whilst it is hidden from the AC unit, and then press the up button on the remote with the unit in range and the unit sets to the correct temperature.

Same applies to setting on off times, mode, fan and vane setting

So, Bradlundgren, it looks like you've got a lot of work!!!

1. A lot of codes to search for or learn to your NEO and
2. Making a lot of pages like Tkrug suggests.

But it would mean that you can directly go to a paige with any temp. A given command will allways the temp to the given settings.

If you have a computer with a infraredport (in the same room as the AC), you can use a program like uICE to display the set temperature on your computer screen. It could be automatically activated every time the air conditioner sends out a signal.
