I have had problems with every Active sync upgrade ever. It really annoys the piss out of me. So anyway: Everytime I plug in a 3000, or 950, it asks me to set up a pertnership. If I set up a partnership, it will not bother me anymore, until I sell that remote, and get another 3000. Then I have to go through the process again. Is there any way that anyone's found that I can eliminate this whole "Partnership" nonsense and just have it connect? Iv'e tried several different ways of installing active sync. With the unit plugged in, without the unit plugged in. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the editors. It just drives me nuts. It's especially bad when I'm on site, and I have to continually plug and unplug the remote from the computer. A real nuscience. I had this same problem with the previous version, but got it to go away. Following the steps I took previously, no longer work. Any suggestions would be great.

Well, i would recomend uninstaling your MX 3000 and Active sync. Re-intstall the software direclty from URC's website and allow it to auto configure with active sync. Don't update active sync. I have active sync version 3.7.1 and i program multiple 950's and 3000's with no problem. The key is if the install prompts you to set up a partnership, dont do it, select guest. I did the activesync update when it came out last year, and all hell broke loose. I come to find out that once you upgrade, you have to run Active sync in compatibilty mode to whatever version of windows your running. So i reverted back to 3.7.1. No problems from there! Alos, never plug the remote into your computer until the sofware is installed and open. Doing so will cuase your computer to only see your remote as an unknown device, this will block your sync up. I got nothing else.., hope this helps!!

Actually, KC, I don't think you have to do that. Simply say no to any partnership from now on, and you should be ok.

The only options I get is "set up a partnership" or "guest". There's really no way that I can directly say "No". Either way, I still have to do it EVERY TIME I plug a remote in. It drives me crazy.

What happens when you select "guest"? Macroman suggested you do that in previous post.

Trust, if your an installer, your going to be connecting more than one mx950 or mx3000 to your PC. Partnerships will lock you into only being able to connect ONE remote or device of the same model, hence the "partnership".

For some reason beyond my comprehension my active sync completely stopped working on my desktop. I think it may have been after an MX Editor update, but I don't know for sure. When I plug in the remote via USB I get the "Found New Hardware" crap but it won't recognize the remote. I also have the version 3.7.1. The only way to get around it is if when I program on the desktop I just save the file on my network and then transfer it onto my laptop. The active sync on my ancient Toshiba satellite (still running Win '98!) works every time! If (and when) that old-timer croaks i'm screwed..

If you get this message, "Found new Hardware" when you plug in your MX 3000, and your lazy like me and don't want to uninstall and re-install the editor software, try manually locating the USB Drivers. Once you get the message, click on search manually and then the Browse Tab. You want to follow this file path: C Drive>Program Files>Universal Remote>MX 3000 Editor(or MX950 whichever your using)> USB, and then click OK. Remember to keep the remote plugged in and have the editor open this whole time. Wait about thirty seconds for the connection to re-time and you should be good.

When you select "Guest", it tells me that It'll be connected for this time only, and when I plug it in again, it goes throught the whole thing again.

What other USB devices do you connect to your computer? Any palm pilots or maybe a logitech wireless mouse?

On the laptop, I have a mouse (not wireless) that connects. But never had this problem with previous versions of Active sync, at least not that I couldn't get around.

One last thing....Check your device manager for an uknown device. If one exists, delete it. my guess is that your PC has labeled your remote an uknown device and everytime youe try to sync up it asks you what kind of relationship you want, After deleting the uknown device (it will show up as a yellow question mark), Star the editor, and then sync up the remote. Now try to perform a soft reset of the MX 3000, you basically will be reconnecting and may have to choose guest one last time... I hope this helps.
