Just got mine about an hour ago. I like the page hide feature.

Try disabling the default sound on the remote. I think you actually have to do this from the programming software, not by turning the volume down, so that the sound never plays. I read somewhere or the other that this would fix the 950's lag, so it presumably would help on the 900 too.

The first thing I did when I got the 900 was shut that beep off. It drives me nuts. I experienced no lag.

Ok, 2 questions. First, is there any other way to disable the beep other than the settings menu accessed directly on the remote itself (holding Watch and Enter simultaneously to access it)? Secondly, for IR Repeat, do you just adjust that field in the IR Database Navigator once and then it is universally set for all new codes you import from the IR database? Does that setting also then apply to entire devices you import from the IR database as well?

Thanks,

Jeff

File | User Preferences seems to be the place for removing the beep. Haven't tried it on mine yet.

I'm curious about the repeat too. The IR Database accessed from the Program menu--the one where you bring in whole devices--doesn't have a repeat setting, and neither do the buttons it creates. You appear to only get access to configurable repeat if you drag the button from the IR Database Navigator, and can only change the repeat after the fact if you drag to a macro. I'm curious what devices populated via the Program menu get for a default repeat setting.

Oops, forgot my context. This is on the MX950 editor, but I bet the MX900 editor is laid out similarly.

No.

I believe it only works with individual commands brought in from the navigator.

Unfortunately, the user preferences selection is absent from the File menu in the 900's editor. However, the 900 is the same with respect to the repeat selection. There's no option to select repeat count when importing entire devices, only when opening the IR Database Navigator for importing of buttons one by one. That's why I asked about a possible global or universal setting. If I change that repeat value and then go to another device in the IR Database or even close the IR Database Navigator and re-open it, that change is remembered.

By the way, I did try importing a few buttons like Tivo FF/REW with the repeat set at 1. No dice. It's the same result, unfortunately.

Well, stuff added by device definitely repeats when held down (or at least things like volume buttons do). That'd probably be the easiest way to check to see if the navigator sets a default--toggle that setting off in the navigator, then go to the Program menu and add a device from there.

But I suspect they've either preset the repeats in the database or it always uses 3/repeat-when-held-down.

You may be better off looking for another file here on RC or learning the commands.

Just to clarify, the "repeat" setting allows you to program a single button with a "hold down" without having to hold the button down. Some projectors require that you hold down the Power button for a second or more to turn them on. Without the repeat feature, you couldn't turn the projector on as part of a macro. The 3-repeat is the default setting and usually doesn't cause any problems with commands being duplicated on a single button push.

I'm sure they can't be available yet!

I just did a search on their favorite "dealer"
site and only came up with a bunch of golf clubs!

Well, there is one on there now. That didn't take long did it?

I 'm still a little confused. Did we conclude that the lag on the MX-900 is eliminated by turning off the default beep by changing the setting on the remote (and not by a programming change)?

Also, does the IR repeat function have anything to do with the lag problem or is that a completely different issue?

One more thing. When will a programming manual be available (in pdf format) for the MX-900? The Universal site lists it with a link but there is nothing there when you click the link.

Dunno that we've determined anything yet. rgbyhkr, does yours still lag if you turn the beep volume all the way down? Some devices realize that 0 volume means don't play it, others don't.

The only reason I suggested it is because the RC review of the MX950 mentions that you can't press the button repeatedly as fast if it's emitting a sound. That sounded in line with the Tivo issue rgbyhkr described.

I've not noticed any lag on my (audible) MX950, really, but it's running in IR-only mode right now.
