More issues with my ipronto I am afraid. Woke up this morning and no wireless network access. The indicator on the front stays off.

Changed nothing, the unit says no signal although my wireless network is working, I can see my netx via my router / PC, surf using laptop etc etc

Tried everything I can think of, reset many times, battery disconnect.

Does anyone know how to wipe the unit's memory and start again ?

Appreciate any advice.

You can force a firmware reflash, which does a full reset. See: [Link: remotecentral.com]

Thanks Daniel,

Unfortunatly no luck, I have "cannot connect to boot.prontophilips.com" or "network startup failed" loop. I now cannot start the machine at all :-(

I note that the PCMCIA network card indicator lamp flashes continuously, which if its like my laptop card means its not seeing a signal.

The clock icon has disapeared, guess thats normal.

Update : set flag to "no" allowed the machine to start on 10th try ! but still no network

An update :

Still have no network access, I think this may be a return to supplier (BlueDo), seems pretty daft to me that a total reboot is dependant on network access, as in my case where the network functionality on the unit (apparantly) goes down.

I have also found that the unit will not now allow me to change between DHCP and fixed IP. The button highlights, says "applying new settings" and goes back to fixed IP. Does this show where the problem may be ?

I have tried removing the battery overnight but it does not appear to loose its configuration (?)

I had this same problem when I first got my iPronto, Check to make sure the network card is in nice and tight.

I was only able to use the fixed IP address also and was getting extremely frustrated the first day when I was setting it up. After about an hour of trying to mess with it, I decided to open up the network card slot. Sure enough I did not put the network card in properly. Right after I pushed it in maybe a milimetre further everything worked perfect and and I no longer had to use the fixed IP address.

If that does not work then I almost guarantee that your problem is a faulty network card and not the unit itself. Call BlueDo and have them exchange your network card and everything should be back to normal.

But make sure you check that the network card is placed in properly before you bother to BlueDo. It could save you some waiting time. Also if it is in properly try taking it completely out leave it for 5 mins and then re-insert it and make sure it is in well.

I think that should take care of your problem.

Max,
Tried your suggestions and no luck. The green lamp is on and steady for the first 5 seconds during initial boot up and then flashes continuously.

You may have seen my other problems with the web browser, perhaps related ? This has happened a couple of times before, but each time the network signal has returned without me doing anything.

I can confirm that for sure its pushed all the way home.

Any other suggestions ? Thanks in advance.

Andrew,

Did you check the Signal strength on your iPronto?

Also, have you tried to reach your iPronto with the "ping" command?

Kees

Kees,
thanks for the input, much appreciated.

Sig strength 0, (guess you are talking about the graphic in the setup screen ?)

No response using ping (time out), I use 192.168.0.10 which was working fine till sunday morning :-(

Just for fun I pinged my netx, responds OK, 192.168.0.4, guess that proves my wireless network is OK.

As I am using a netx I cant even use it as a remote :-(

I have the battery out for 24 hours, after that I will be in contact with BlueDo :-(

On one of our iPronto's we had the same problem. We tried to "install" a different PCMCIA wireless card (different brand) which didn't work (of course)... After inserting the "old" card again. Everything worked! So try starting your ipronto without the pcmcia-card, and then with it...

Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestion, good one but unfortunatly it did not work for me.

Time for me to thank Kees for several suggestions last night, unfortunatly without success.

the two clues appear to be ;

1) the network card green LED is lit for first 5 seconds, then continuously blinks.

2) I am unable to select DHCP in the setup menu, jumps back to fixed IP

I am in contact with BlueDo and I think its a return to them :-(

Which I really do not want to do...

Have you tried powering your wireless AP on and off. Don't ask me why, just try it.

The only other thing I can think of is 2.4 Ghz wireless phones. I just changed my house to 5 gig phones because of interference I was getting onto the wifi wireless LAN. Some 2,4 gig phones with remote handsets even send information around when there is no phone call in progress.

My situation (wireless networking) improved dramatically when I changed to the 5 gig phone units. I chose the ATT system with a single base station and up to 5 remote handsets that have no telephone connections. Speakerphone in all units, reasonable price, Battery backup in base station for power failures, CallerID and call logging along with speed dial. Nice system but off the subject.
