Well, they charged me $229 (gulp). It doesn't have any appendage to the model number so I don't know which color it is. FedEx shows it coming tomorrow (Monday, 03/01/04).
Of course, I wasn't looking for the best price on the web, I just wanted to get the thing and get going.

When I spoke to Harmony on Friday, they didn't know when the 688 would be shipping to them, so I'll be interested to see what you get on Monday.

Well, they sent me the 768 (at $229 - gee, such a deal).
Needless to say I am an unhappy camper. I knew it was too good to be true.

Mike's posted some nice pictures so now you get a chance to choose colors ;). Hopefully he'll keep us updated on when they are really going to be instock

The current date that Harmony is supposed to have them is March 15. However, that's all dependent on the ship date from the Orient, how long it takes to clear customs etc. Dealers should have them shortly thereafter. I'll let you know when I hear more.

I got a reply today from Harmony, via e-mail, about the ST-688 - it appears that you can preorder the remote for a special "incentive" price of $225 including free standard shipping (I thought the list price was $225, so I'm not sure about the "incentive"). They expect the remotes to be released mid-March, and the shipping will be with in the 2 weeks of the release date.

Email them and specifically ask.
I have been told:
The Black one is due to come in by April 1/04 and the Silver 688 is due to come in April 15/04.
Also I was offered a price of $249.

Early adopters of technologies rarely get a deal when the more usable products arrive. I love/hate the bleeding edge, and I can't wait for my new 688. My wife can't stand the dial on our 768.

I ordered a 688 direct from Intrigue for $199 and was told it would ship March 31.
