I have a V-series Bravia with the same issue. Are we certain that the TV itself is lacking a discrete code for the HDMI input? Or might it exist but we haven't found it yet?

It surely exists! But the codes for earler TV's don't work. I've emailed Sony on Sunday last... had the automated response but no "human" reply. This and other forums have many posters seeking a code... but to date I haven't seen one that works. Unfortunately, working thru numbers is beyond my feeble skills.

Good luck Pfeff. Right now I have it pointing to Input 6 (?) plus InputNext. But it routinely misses the InputNext so I need to run help nearly everytime.

Let us know how it goes.

Cheers, p.

Might want to try contacting iCEWATER in DTVforum. He claims to have direct commands for all inputs including HDMI [Link: dtvforum.info]

???????

EDIT:
Ummm, scrap that. After reading more i believe he's just using the nextinput function.

Gutty, Yep, looks like the same InputNext method.

Still haven't heard from Sony... Guess they want to sell Sony remotes. I have an earler 8 device Sony remote I paid $200 for. Retired to the bedroom now. No Macros, No Actiivities, a pain to "Learn", no programs, etc...

I love the 785. The favorite channels setup with logos/graphics is hugely popular with the family as it makes finding the right channel on Foxtel a breeze. They thought they needed an IT degree with the 520. Never been keen on the Foxtel Favourites; too many key presses. When I first setup the 785, I thought I had wasted some money when a new 525 would have been okay. But once I found the favorites (after getting past all the time I spent trying to get HDMI directly), the 785 is a winner.

I have 32v2000 and of course suffer the same problem. Just thought you might get giggle to know I have just spent the day trying to work out how to get the remote to do both direct input and skip!!!!!

Just realised I need to set up the TV to skip AGHHHH

I have been using the V2500 codes as they include RGB and component.

And use the inputnext for HDMi

I too have emailed sony and logitech, with no answer

Anyway thanks for sharing the solution.

Post if you here from Sony.

Cheers

Just got back from business trip so hadn't seen your post. I totally understand how frustrating this issue is. When everything else works we all seem to be going to extreme lengths to find a solution. Glad you are now on track.

Please let us all know if you happen to get a reply. I unfortunately have been to busy to spend any time on the support line to Logitech. In any case I think this issue is fair and squarely a Sony matter...

I am using US Harmony 720 which I believe is the same as your 785 with my Sony KDL-V40XBR1 TV. Try that model number it has a full set of discrete inputs, might work.

Tried the model but none of the codes work as a discrete code for HDMI input.

Like Icewater888, I thiink we've all tried that already without success. BTW does your 720 change your V40BR1 to HDMI using the discrete input? I didn't think anyone was really having success with HDMI directly and that we are all using some variation of the inputnext command as a workaround.

Guys, I think Gutty has the solution (workaround)!!!!!!!!!!

Gutty, you using the skip between Tuner and HDMI gave
me the clue!. I know that's all you use so I didn't see
it initially as the solution because I use 4 of the inputs,
only skipping the ones I don't use.

Seeing as we can select everything except HDMI directly
and "skip" only affects the scrolling... If we "skip"
everything but the HDMI (and Tuner which can't be skipped),
then logically InputNext will ALWAYS go to HDMI from any
other input except PC (which is the one after HDMI and
before Tuner) which I don't use anyway...YES? The Harmony
will go to the other inputs as normal using the discrete
codes and HDMI is the only stopping point other than the
Tuner which can also be selected directly.

This method won't be help to users with RGB in their mix
of inputs, but are many of us using RGB anyway?

I'll try this tonight and report back although I will
try the macro theory from my previous post too. Gosh I
hope one of these works... My wife is sore about me fiddling
with the remote, laptop and TV and not having time for
other stuff like talking and romance!!! Hmmmm ... almost
forgot what that's like since I got the Harmony!

Hey swaction.... nice to know you are getting some sleep. Its a good thing this still works after the software update since they hobbled the Adjust Inputs section.

Never heard from Sony... I wonder if the pronto guys ever got a fix.

Anyway everything else I need still works but understand the complaints from a lot of Harmony customers...
