The lack of coloured buttons was my concern too, and from all the pictures I've seen so far you only get six soft buttons per page rather than eight. Is this configurable, does anybody know?

hhatkin. I can't see any spare buttons I could sacrifice to use as colour buttons. Which ones do you use?

No, they're not going to bring out a new model for that
purpose....

I think they might.

Based on anything concrete, like insider info, press releases, etc., or just really a wish?

Well, no I have no insider info and its not necessarily a wish. I would NOT buy one while it has NO colour buttons (I am in the UK) and restricts the display to 3 Activities. I have heard all the arguments and ways to get round it but it is not for me.

I started off with a 555 and found the 4 activities/screen a restriction, tried the 785/885 and (think) I have settled on the HK TC30 with 8 (like a 525 with larger screen).

I can not believe that Logitech will allow the colour issue to continue forever. I do not know what their roadmap is, but it will become lost against newer remotes that will now develop with wifi/bluetooth etc.

It may be the ONE never changes but a newer model will encompass colo(u)rs for both sides of the Atlantic and others world-wide.

Just my humble opinion.

Regards

Alan

There is an extra up/down button, between Menu/Exit and Info Guide, that is usually not programmed.
I've moved Guide to Prev - which also isn't used - and moved Info down to the Guide button.
Menu isn't needed for Sky.
So now the colours are Menu>Red, Up>Green, Down>Yellow, Info>Blue.
It's a very useful location for them, immediately above the navigation, volume up/down, and channel up/down section, and is actually more practical than the colour buttons on the Sky remote.
It sounds like a hassle, but it works in practice, so I'm happy with it - but dedicated colour buttons would be an improvement, without question.
I also agree that 6 Activities to each screen would be an improvement, but again it's easy to live with the current situation of switching between pages with the left and right cycling arrows.
As colour buttons are being used more now in the US, Logi have every incentive to make the improvements, but I don't see them issuing a new model so soon after the One.

Well i am in the market for another remote (880 owner) like the 1, but will now hold off from buying this because of THE LACK OF COLOURED BUTTONS. (Logitech marketing is hopefully reading this) so I will maybe go back to the 785 until they or somebody else produces something like the 1 with dedicated couloured butttons.

My One has customised colour buttons, and if I put a blob of paint on each they'd be coloured buttons!
Their position in relation to the other buttons is better than on the original Sky remote.

Many thanks for that. Unfortunately I need most if not all those buttons for my PVR and DVD recorder. The dedicated Page Up/Down buttons take the sting out of it slightly. Currently I've got them assigned to soft buttons, so I'll effectively be losing only two, not four.

I won't be buying another 885. I've had two: both had buttons packing up after a year. The first one was changed under warranty with days to spare and the second has failed after about 13 months, so this time they won't replace it.

This leaves me with a choice: a One or a 785. Common sense tells me to go for the 785: it has the colour buttons AND hard Page Up/Down buttons, at the expense of six soft buttons rather than eight. It also has six activities per page. And it's cheaper.

On the other hand, I've seen the One close up, and it's very nice...

Anybody comment on tactile experience/ergonomics of the One vs. 785?

I don't need Menu, extra Up/Down, or Info for either my PVR or DVD recorder, but of course it's everyone to their own taste.
The One does have much the best key layout and "feel" of any Harmony.

Does the 785 have clicky buttons a la 880/885/890/895 or do they have the more traditional soft collapse-action feel? Same question for the One, although I'm slowly leaning away from it in favour of the 785.

I've been reading some (mostly exceedingly poor) user reviews on the internet and someone said they found the 785's cursor buttons squeaky. Anyone come across this?

The One has hard buttons but an almost inaudible tick or click when pressed.

Hi, my name is Kate and I’m with Logitech. I just wanted to provide a quick update re: Harmony.

Logitech Harmony recently made changes to our customer service policy and we wanted to make sure that you have the most up-to-date information for your readers. You may want to update your Web site to reflect these changes.

Historically we have encouraged our customers to contact us by telephone when they have questions. As more and more people choose Logitech Harmony, however, we have developed more efficient ways to support our valued customers.

Beginning December 1, new Harmony customers have free, unlimited access to phone support for the first 60 days after they’ve created an account to set up their Harmony remote. (With the purchase of each additional remote, Harmony customers will have 60 days of additional phone support from the date of purchase.)

Those who’ve had an account for their Harmony remote longer than 60 days will continue to have access to online help, the forums and responses through e-mail submission in the Harmony software, but not phone support.

To save time and provide clear answers to a whole range of questions, we’ve created an active community forum, bringing together Logitech employees and Harmony users to answer questions publicly so that everyone can benefit from the answers. The forums have already resolved hundreds of troubleshooting questions.

We’ve also continued to build our online help, with user manuals and FAQs that allow people to find the answers to their how-to questions with a quick search – without having to wait on hold. And they’re all easily accessible through Harmony software.

If you have questions about our customer service policy, join the discussion on our online community forum through your Harmony software or at [Link: logitech.com]. Or, you can also feel free to contact me.

Thank you so much Kate for giving your customers the finger yet again.
Logitech Harmony remotes are Crippleware.
