This model just appeared on the Logitech website.

Never seen it until now.

Anyone heard anything about it?

It's price less than $100 !!

Looks nearly as good as the 880...

Impressive new design - now we're really feeling Logitech's influence. We'll have to see how it does in people's hands. Do we know when it ships?

Wow - I like it! Except it appears it only has 4 LCD buttons.

True, but if you notice the page/activity title does not take up a button row, so essentially is the same as 6xx series using title + 4 buttons option...

Yeah, but its made up by the fact that its a high-contrast easily readable unit.

Press Release:

Looks very impressive, especially given the price.

If anyone finds a link to a higher-res image, please post.

For activity selection - yes.

But I thought you got 6 for Device and Activity Mode LCD commands.

Looks interesting. I was about to try to buy the 880 but I may wait a little longer to hear the real world experience on this bad boy.

On a 6xx you can set the option to have use of 6 buttons, but if you do then you lose the mode title (e.g. which activity you are currently in, which device you are viewing in device mode, etc.)

Personally I've always preferred to have the title and sacrifice the 2 extra buttons, as I don't use the lcd on my 676 for much.

Cue,

Unless you have someone that has vision issues and needs the high-contrast LCD, then you really need to look at the 6XX line again, A 6XX will have the same functionality as a 520, more buttons, for about the same price (or less). I can tell simply from the availble picutre that the button layout and feel will be better on the 6XX remotes, and they are availabe now.

God knows when this remote will really be available. I get the feeling that its actually going to be quick this time, but the memory of the 880 rollout is still way too recent to discount.

I find it looks nice compared to the 6xx remotes, but why would anyone looking at the 880 go for this instead?

Half the price (allbeit missing 4 activity locations on the screen and no media button)...

Also, no worries about whether or not it gets charged whilst in the cradle - 4 x AAA batteries !!

Finally, new breed of software which may allow more tweaking on your own PC.

I bet a lot of people were considering the 880 for its looks, and the new 520 is just as stylish.

Looks like the 520 only has 4 activity locations, the 880 has 8.

I'd look into getting one of these for my bedroom; the setup in there is a lot simpler than the living room (only a TV and DVD player), so I don't need anything as powerful as the 880.

Seeing as there is no media button; is this likely to mean that this remote will not permit use of favorite channels?

Awesome design!!! Maybe I found my remote... my luck I had not ordered yet the 676 :)

Just a thing... It's just me or seeing as there there aren't pic and audio buttons, just like the 880?

If I'm not wrong, from a little zooming and guessing on the low res pics, the buttons are

Activities
Device Help
<- ->
(Transport)
Guide Info
Exit Menu
Mute Prev

Damn... with 4 soft buttons and no pic/audio pages the screen is going to get messy...

We REALLY need an high res image of the remote...

Anyone knows what's written on the button directly below the directional pad?
