I have a Radio Shack 15-1994 remote but no JP1 cable. I'm trying to find discrete codes for the HDMI inputs on my EX500. There are four HDMI inputs, but only codes for two of them. Does anyone know how I can get all 4 HDMI discretes with my current remote? I'm not totally against a JP1 cable, but it would be a lot of hassle and expense just for two codes.

I've looked at hifiremote.com and the sony page here [Link: hifi-remote.com]

But I'm having trouble since I think some of the device codes (particularly the 26 code which has discretes for the HDMI inputs) don't seem to be programmed to my 15-1994. Hoping there is a way...

Cheers.

J.

As you probably already know, you can get HDMI1 and HDMI2 with EFCs 162  and 158.  The 1994 can't send device 26, but you should be able to learn the signals.  If the OEM remote doesn't have those functions, you can enter 5 digit EFCs into e.g Comcast or Atlas cable remotes, or other newer UEI remotes, and use those to teach the 1994.

HDMI1 3 and 4 are 05021 and 03997 using e.g. setup code Audio 1758 or 31758.

Thanks 3FG! Now, my cable company here is Comporium Communications. I've got a Scientific Atlanta HD-DVR. Are their remotes capable of these 5 digit code entry procedures? Any inexpensive UEI remotes you would suggest if not?

If your remote looks like this one, then it is an Atlas.  Unless it says 1056B03 on the back  (1056B01 or any other number should be OK), then it is programmable.
Follow the 994 instructions to add the EFCs to a couple of buttons.

That's exactly the remote I had! It's been in my closet for who knows how long!!! I never knew it was programmable!

I've got everything set up now thanks a million!

Cheers.

PS- Where do I find the codes available for this cable remote? I'm not seeing 5-digit codes or those particular device codes on hifi-remote.com.

I don't understand the question.  You can use the 983 Signature blinkback to find which Atlas you have (I guess it will be 3033), and use the Lookup Tool to see the available setup code and/or protocol executors.

In this case I used RemoteMaster and an upgrade file to get the EFCs.  Or you can type the OBC numbers (from the Sony pages) into RM and it will show you the EFCs.

I guess I'm confused because I'm not familiar with the JP1 stuff as I don't have a cable and I thought you need one to utilize RM etc.
