Hi all. I'm new to this site and have been searching the forums for any info on discrete codes for these two devices:

Hitachi 61" Ultravision rear projection HDTV (61SWX10B) remote model CLU-5713SI.

Sony Surround Receiver STR-DE885 remote model RM-PP411. I couldn't find this device in the MX-Editor software I am using for my MX-700 so I've taught all the codes from my Sony remote to my MX-700, but some discrete codes would be nice.

The research I've done for all threads about the Hitachi TVs sounds like there are no discrete codes for any Hitachi TVs, but some people seem to think there are some for the newer models. If anybody knows where to find them, Please let me know.

Cheers.

Stan

The newer Hitachi RPTV's do have discrete power commands, in fact I found them on Hitachi's web site a little while back. How would you get those commands into your MX-700. I can give them to you in Pronto hex or for an OFA remote.

Thanks John, that would be really nice. I'm getting a URC-8811 with JP1 cable to transfer codes into my MX-700. If you could send the codes to my email at [email protected] or just post them here if you like, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks again!

As for the sony, they're using a new code set. If you want discetes, you'll have to change your receiver and oem remote to the old code set. Then and only then will the discetes on file work. For instructions, see this thread;

Edmund,

I recently posted the discrete power commands for the alternate (newer) Sony receiver and they apparently work. The new device codes are all 32 higher (device=48 rather than 16 for most commands); however, the command portion is the same. Device 16 command 46 is On for most Sony receivers. The newer ones are Device 48 command 46, etc. and as you pointed out they can apparently be set back to the legacy settings.

This information came from Rob (not Crowe) who established a web page for all things Sony. It is quite good. The link to his site is:

Stan,

Good move on the 8811 and JP1. That will make your life easier.

When you get your 8811 you should probably shift your questions to over to the JP1 Yahoo group. JP1 related questions get answered there quickly.

Here are the Hitachi TV codes. These are all setup code TV_0145. The advanced codes (EFC=Advanced Code) can be programmed manually if you don't get your cable right away. But once you program the 8811 with a PC it is hard to go back to the "manual method."

Jon, That's great, I guess for pronto users. But that doesn't help the ones with av3000's, vl900's, ofa remotes, and such. And it sure doesn't help me to help them. The link I give, helps them right NOW.

Dear Stan,
I just purchased an MX 700 remote, and also need to install the discrete on/off codes for my new Hitachi RPTV (57SWX20B) into it.How do you plan to pull the cods of of the 8811 remote and install them into your MX 500? Additonally, where do you buy a 8811 and the JP 1 cable? do I really need to do that or can I obtain the codes elsewhere? thanks in advance for your help, I've just purchased the MX 700 and am struggling with it a bit.

Tom,

I learned how to program the 8811 from the excellent jp1 group over at Yahoo groups. You have to have a Yahoo account to access the group and the files you will need (fortunately, it's free). There are several articles in that group giving step by step instructions on how to program the One For All (OFA) remotes, of which the 8811 is a good one, and it's cheap. BTW, jp1 stands for jumper 1, you know the jumpers on computer boards that you put the little connectors on? There is a jumper, referred to as jp1 in the battery compartment of many remotes that you can use to program the EEPROMs, you connect the jp1 cable to that and to the parallel port on your computer. Very talented remote hackers have figured out how to program these remotes through the jp1 connector and have shared their knowledge with us less talented individuals.

You can get a ready made jp1 cable for fairly cheap from BlueDo.com where I got mine, or you can even make one of your own if you know how to use a soldering iron.

I tried all the suggestions from these forums to get discrete power codes for my Hitachi HDTV but none of them worked. My TV must be a true TOAD. I at least figured out a power-on work around using my DVD input into the TV.

You asked me about getting codes into my MX-500, but I actually have the MX-700, like you. I sent in my MXD files to this site, but they haven't been posted yet. If you would like, I could e-mail my files to you. I don't know how useful they would be to you, though.

Good luck!

Stan

The discrete power and inputs are here:
