Hello all,
I couldn't find some discrete codes for my plasma, so if someone has them or can tell me where/how to find them (if they exist), I'd really appreciate that.
What I need:
1) 4:3 2) 16:9 (full) 3) turn on black side bars in 4:3 (they always show as annoying grey for some reason until you go through the menu and turn them to black!)
Thanks in advance!

So, I guess those codes don't exist? :(

No, I haven't tried those yet! Thank you for the reply - I'll give them a try and get back here with the results. On April 10, 2007 at 09:13, Kupakai said...

Hmm, just tried to convert a couple of codes using Makehex, but they don't seem to work... Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe they just don't work with my TV?
Can someone please check if they get the same result from Makehex and ProntoProEdit NG after? I'd really appreciate it :)
The code I tried was (for example, doesn't necessarily have to be this one, but I'm more interested if I'm doing this correctly at the moment) from the PDF file from the site given above: 16:9 ZOOM 50AF 758A, so I modified the nec1.irp file to be like this:
Device=80 Function=117
Protocol=NEC Frequency=38000 Time Base=564 One=1,-3 Zero=1,-1 Prefix=16,-8 Suffix=1,-78 R-Prefix=16,-4 R-Suffix=1,-174 Default S=~D Form=*,D:8,S:8,F:8,~F:8,_;*,_
and got this after using MakeHex:
Device Code: 80 Function: 117 0000 006D 0022 0002 0157 00AC 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0016 0015 0041 0015 0689 0157 0056 0015 0E94
and ultimately got this from PPENG:
900A 006D 0000 0001 50AF 758A
which doesn't work on my TV :(
Am I off track here or (and I'm hoping for this :)) I screwed something up along the way and there's still hope to get those discreets working?
Thanks in advance!

Maybe I'm doing something wrong or maybe they just don't work with my TV? I don't know whether that code doesn't work with your TV or whether you did something wrong in binding the code to a button and/or testing it. But you converted it to pronto hex correctly. from the PDF file from the site given above: 16:9 ZOOM 50AF 758A, When code is documented in that form, you can go directly to condensed Pronto Hex by just inserting 900A 006D 0000 0001 in front of the documented code. so I modified the nec1.irp file That also works and you did it right and you got the correct long form of the pronto hex string. and ultimately got this from PPENG:
900A 006D 0000 0001 50AF 758A Exactly what you should have gotten. which doesn't work on my TV :( Sorry. I don't have an answer for that.

Thank you for confirming that the code is correct - I'll try all the codes from there later on to see whether any of them work with my TV, at least there's some hope at the moment :)

Unfortunately it seems none of the codes work :( I can't image why, though, a manufacturer would do that...

Are the ordinary functions for that TV standard Hitachi TV signals?
If the ordinary signals auto convert to and/or work as signals in the form 900A 006D 0000 0001 50AF wxyz then you were on the right track looking for the discrete codes and most likely they just don't exist.
But if the ordinary signals are something else entirely, then you were looking in the wrong place for the discretes.

Yes, they are in that form, for example: ON = 900A 006D 0000 0001 50AF 3EC1 OFF = 900A 006D 0000 0001 50AF 3FC0 I guess I'm out of luck with this TV? It's a bit of annoyance, as I don't use zoom levels other than 4:3 or 16:9, but just have to toggle through them all till I get to what I want (and cannot have a macro that would set them depending on the movie being player of course).
