Toast or grill the meat, cheese then place on fresh bread as in....

The Capo de Capo at my local deli

Grilled Cappacola and imported pepperoni, topped with mozzarella, provolone and cheddar.

Separately grilled locally grown jalapanos, onions, then fresh tomatoes and lettuce on a fresh hoagie with Italian dressing.

This thread made me go get one for lunch today and I could not be happier.

not be happier.

I knew by 9am that I was going to go to Quizno's and try the prime rib with cheese for lunch.

At the last second I again snapped and ordered a chicken cabanaro!

Maybe someday!

As to the fresh bread debate, I prefer mine toasted.

It doesn't stick into every orfice in my mouth.

I hate having a little bit of bread stuck up by my gums between my front teeth.

I should also mention that I have a choice between Quiznos, Subway, Mr.Goodscents, and Quick Shoppe!

No legendary mom and pop store's here ;-(

Finding a good sub south of LA is not the easiest thing in do. Our best choices are usually the big 2, and I can't say I am big fan of Subway. There is Phillipe's up in downtown that is really good.

Only thing we have close to a famous deli is Jerry's famous deli, which I have never been to. Or is there one closer than about 20 miles from my house. But at least in Februaury I know it will still probably be sunny and 70 degrees so who is complaining.

This was the best thread ever until the depressing posts in the middle of page 2.

Then it got good again. I think I actually drooled when the post about the greese windows. Yum!

Of course the local places are better..... but what fun is it talking about subs that no one knows.

Im sticking up for the Mesquite Chicken Bacon at Quiznos.......everytime I go in to try the Prime Rib.... I go back to the Mequite Chicken....Kind of like that Carls Jr commercial with the Pastrami sandwich.

That works too!

Golf takes longer than a short cruise on the bike (for me anyway!).

I could probably cruise to your house in the time it takes me to do 18 ;-(

Bike rides on the strand does remind me of Big Mikes Philly Cheesesteak down in Hermosa Beach. Great way to end a long cruise on the beach. To kind of keep the subject on topic.

Just because I am always talking about golf does not mean I am too good at it. My foot wedge is probably my most consistant shot. lol

Remember to get the rosemary parmasean bread with that carbonarra. mmmm toasty

I have ventured out into the prime rib once, its good but no carbonarra.

They always say they will charge extra for the rosemary bread but they never do.

I'm happy to have lunch as long as it's not the toxic waste from the typical FF joints. I always feel like I swallowed a canon ball no matter what I pound down there.

Subway, Quiznos, Hoagie Yogi.. great food that has the potential to be good for you if you steer clear of the chips, cookies & super sized pop. It's pretty much 70% of what I eat for lunch. Keeps me fit enough to do stupid things like diving into an attic at 130f.

Fresh is good.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

My favorite sub was Mr. Porter. He was about 90, couldn't hear and wore Coke bottle bottom glasses.
All hour we made paper airplanes and launched them at him.

Jersey Mike's #13 Italian or the club sub.

Subway reminds me of something you would get out of a vending machine (anyone remember Stewert sanwiches in the 70's?).

Havent tried Quiznos yet, but now I have to. That chik carb is sounding good.
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.
