It ain't a sub. Or a hero, submarine, grinder, bomber, poor boy, zep, torpedo, or wedge.
It's a friggin hoagie but I guess that's debatable depending on right where you may be standing. As for favorites we have quite a few great ones in my area. Italian with proscitto and sharp provolone douched with balsamic vinagraitte.
OR , slightly out of the hoagie genre is the buffalo chicken cheese steak with a touch of ranch dressing. Hmmmm.
I'm off to lunch.

We have a few places out by me who do hoagies VERY well...
There is a place called Bravo! (yes, the name includes the exclam) and they have the best meatball hoagies ever...
There is another N. IL staple called Panino's and they have the best bread ever... and they DEFINITELY don't ruin it by toasting it like some places.

We have a few places out by me who do hoagies VERY well... I can't believe this thread! I would never hire either you or Theaterworks, because of your lack of judgement. The 2 of you talk of "hoagies" & "subs" when your area has the absolutely BEST Italian beef & sausage sandwiches! Portillo's sandwiches aren't bad, but the best come from the little places with a nice film of old grease on their windows. There's a place just west of Midway Airport called Paresis that makes them so big you need 3 hands. They also dip the bread in the gravy. (I don't know how much more I can type because I'm drooling all over my keyboard.) I don't know if these qualify but the only other sandwiches that come close are the Philly cheesesteaks and the beef on Wek from upstate NY.

Am I the only one who hates Quizon's and Subway?? I don't like Subway because they are all crappy franchises and they seem content to serve you food that has been festering all day in cooler tables that are not set cold enough...
Quizno's, well I said my peace regarding taking fresh bread, making it into a sandwich, and then toasting it for 2 minutes so that the fresh bread gains the texture of very stale bread...

My problem with Subway is that there is no meat on the sandwich. I ordered 'double meat' once when I was really hungry, and it was about half an inch of meat. Never again. Quizno's has been hit or miss. A couple of good sandwiches, and then a couple of scary Food Service Sanitation moments. (I'm still accredited from another life).
