In all fairness. Mr. Stanley didn't once give
out an address or a name or even a city for his
boss. His boss OK'd the walk through
with the stranger so that's not a problem.
His home is our showroom for cryin' out loud! It's totally secure, (Security Gate, Cameras etc.).
I pre-screen the appointments, and only take a very small percentage of potential clients through the home.
The other clients, meet out at an office / conference facility on the property.
But that is what the owners built it for... To show potential high-end clients what can be done.
He displays some of his cars there, along with custom choppers, his customised Semi Truck / Racing Car Trailer (that advertises our company - we totally sponsor the racing program), all the usual stuff that a guy with a passion for toys would have.
None of it is intended to be a secret, or hidden.
The home is referred to as "The Electronic Estate".
If anything, he'd call me into the office, if I wasn't utilising the home.
The owner and his wife encourage me to use the house as much as possible, versus handing out cut sheets, or emailing bids, or flipping through magazines.
It is essential for us to use the home as our main mechanism to demonstrate what we can do, and offer, so our potential clients can see the stuff, play with it, experience it etc. and to "position" our company.
They would rather do this than have us take people out to a client's home.
You can TELL people you can do a $250,000 theater room, you can show them pictures as well.
Sitting them down in a room like that and handing them a touchpanel, having them hit the movie icon, seeing the room come to life with an audio / video experience that totally blows them away seems to be a little more effective, than pictures or a powerpoint presentation.
The home tours are well orchestrated, scheduled in advance, the house is professionally cleaned before the tour and conducted with folks that have the resources, and are expressing interest in the best. Often their builder and or architect may show-up as well.
We are planning some dinner parties and wine & cheese type events (at the house as well)... so I think some of you guys are a little confused.
These people generally get a real kick out of seeing all of the other "trappings" --- it's part of the experience.
Anyway, just wanted to try and clear that up with ya'll.
The "tour" ends in the garage, because we have a touchpanel in the garage, some audio video and lighting control going on out there and the ultimate in custom garage cabinetry... another business of ours, which we show to clients, along with the lighting-control module / panels, structured panels, security web cameras, a UPS array for the house etc.
Zinon, I'll be happy to email you some pics & info on the house, then maybe you'll understand.
The plane, is also to be used for business as well, as a few personal trips.
But discretion is always a good thing. I don't think
he crossed a line. A bit Zealous perhaps.
