Today, I stopped by my Boss' house to demo his theater to a client. The boss is out of town - flew his two week old Columbia 400 to Palm Springs for the week-end.

As I am leaving the house, I go out through one of the garages... As I look over at the his & hers Benz's ... I catch a flash of red fabric draped over another car (low to the ground profile)... Hmmm, looks like a new Vette?... so, I walk over and carefully peel back part of the cover... It's a brand new Ferarri 599 GTB convertible!!!
I about had a stroke! I had no idea he just got this!

Leaving the garage, and strolling to my ancient Pick-Up was kind of a humbling experience... Now then... my review IS coming up soon!!! :) Sometimes it's nice to be the boss I guess! Jeeesh!

It's exactly that kind of experience that made me strike out on my own.

Four years later, I'm still penniless! But I AM having more fun and enjoying myself more. Much more free time, which is why I am penniless, as I take the easy option of sitting in the garden or getting up late instead of chasing new business.
Sticking to what I'm good at.

Been there, did that... (And GOD I miss it)!!! I was usually pretty broke also, but had the luxury of setting my own schedule. But I burned out because I could never say NO, and ended up always over-scheduled and eventually the stress got to me.

As I was walking to my truck here is what I was thinking: Hmmm payday is tomorrow... I wonder if I go to Starbucks for a double tall latte, will my Debit Card work or will it get denied?!

Lifes a bitch!

If I were your boss I would never let you in my home again. Do you think it was appropriate to let everyone know that he has a private plane, a couple of Benzes , and a Ferrari .I would be furious. After reading this post and looking at some of your recent posts I have to question your "Advanced Member" status.

Mr. S doesn't tell us if this is his boss's only business (I would guess not).

Zinon, I see your point, and thought about that right after I hit clicked "post"! (insert a loud Homer Simpson DOHHHH~!~!).

His home is open to the public (by appointment) and is featured in magazine articles, and is regualrly pictured in our magazine "display" ads, so if he were sensitive about that stuff, believe me, I'd know!

But, you don't know me, I haven't mentioned any names,
personal or company. There are only a couple guys here who know he and I, so I still consider it an anonymous situation.

I also think I should hit the sack at 2:00 a.m. instead of posting at that time - insomnia has it's drawbacks.

I don't know why he would be furious, but I'm sure I'm probably overlooking something,(as usual)!

He is actually pretty proud of his new plane, and worked his ass off with another business to be able to aquire stuff like this, and certainly hasn't been shy about letting his office staff, friends and many many numerous others know about it.

But, he doesn't flaunt his stuff, like some guys, and I respect that --- again that's what prompted me to write about the new car because It was such a shocker to have bumped into it, yet he never mentioned it.

He deserves those things, as he has worked hard & smart... I say more power to him.

I used to work with a guy in retail, who bought a Porsche, and he let every human being he ever came across - know about it! Talk about a bore!

It first struck me kind of funny though when I discovered the Ferarri, as to how it contrasts his situation to mine. I wasn't criticizing or making any judgements either, but yeah it's probably a boundary issue that I've violated...

I might just edit the post in the morning, although I know he wouldn't give a sh#t either way. If I thought that would be the case I wouldn't have discussed it here -- but again, I don't mention the business name or his name, so I don't think I'm doing any harm.

He lives in a small suburban town anyway, and everybody is pretty aware of his holdings...

Zinon, Thanks for keeping me in line, I guess I gotta keep my big trap shut.

P.S.
He didn't come by those things via our line of work.

I don't see that's it's a big deal. Your not here name calling him because he's accomplished so much. You didn't drive to his home late at night and peak through his windows to see how he lived.
This is a place that we log into and share with one another. Yes, I know that people not in our industry may come here too, but if you take the right precautions and don't mention the name of your company or personal names, who's gonna know.
Personally I'm an idiot, my business name is my user name. Oh but wait: "It's my business name" LOL...
No harm done....

Redlines @ 8500 RPM
Zero to 124 mph in 11 seconds...

"Stanley, can you step into my office for a moment?"

That will let you know that something is wrong.

If you worked for me that meeting in the office would be short, and would be a whole lot of me giving and you taking.

A hint: you can edit your initial post if you elect to.

Some Crestron dealers may know that if it will help close a deal they will send a car (within reason) for you and your client to go to the Crestron owner's house. Once there you'll see automation things most of us have never dreamed of.

I haven't taken advantage of it yet, but I hope to someday.

I personally think this post is in poor taste. You could have got the point across without giving so much details.
My .02 cents.
Ever notice when you are driving that everybody going slower than you is an idiot and everyone going faster than you is a maniac.

Hey, hey, he, Keep your shirt on!
I was just about to edit it, but then I re-read it a couple of times... F-it! I meant no harm, and was joking about my review coming up. And I bever hinted or implied I'm not fairly compensated. maybe that is the way some miight have interpreted it.
I think a few of us tend to take ourselves too seriously around here.

In all fairness. Mr. Stanley didn't once give out an address or a name or even a city for his boss. It's a big world out there, and that car, although a lot more upscale than my little collection of heaps is pretty common compared to what some real rollers have in their garages. I will agree, you really have to be sensitive to the element of anonymity most high end clients would prefer to maintain, and of course security is a huge consideration. His boss OK'd the walk through with the stranger so that's not a problem. But discretion is always a good thing. I don't think he crossed a line. A bit Zealous perhaps.
