Hey,

Just downloaded the MX-900 software to play with until the remote actually arrives, but the link to the help system is broken. Anyone have the programming manual?

Go to www.universalremote.com and check out the "downloads" area. You'll find it there. :)

Thank you,

I guess the closest thing would be to read both the MX-950 and MX-850 Programming Manuals. The MX-900 is a kind of hybrid of both remotes.

Thank you,

Sorry,

Eric Johnson is finishing it up and it should be posted shortly. It will be a combined programming manual for the MX-950, TX-1000 and MX-900 as they all use nearly identical software.
Until then, if you have any programming questions on the MX-900 or TX-1000 just email me ([email protected]) and I'll answer them as fast as I can.

Jeff,

This really doesn't help me because I've never programmed any of your remotes before.

I just called A%^D and they agreed to do an RMA. They were totally shocked that the manual wasn't available.

I was looking for a less expensive alternative to the Pronto, and thought that I had found it. I guess I'll have to wait.

Dawn,
I'd download the manuals as Jeff recommended. You will find the programming to be nearly identical enough to get the concepts. We'll help you with any specifics. I think you have the best low cost alternative out there - don't send it back yet.

Personally I have done lots of Prontos and CHAD remotes and considered the legibility of the monochrome screen to be a real issue, especially considering the cost of the remote (not a cheapie). I now use RTI for the higher end clients. However, to keep the lower cost clients in remote heaven, the MX-850 has been absolutely outstanding. The 900 is of course the newer iteration of that style. I'd definitely not send it back without spending some time with it.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

Tom,

I absolutely agree with you, the MX-900 looks perfect for my less expensive systems.

I've been pretty crabby lately due to my "sinus-infection from hell", so when I clicked on the help button in the MX-900 editor, and a page opened up with "We're sorry, the page you are trying to reach has been moved, or never existed.", I kind of lost it.

With the Pronto I'm always prepared for bugs, but at least I can find documentation, or at the very least, a working help system.

Rant ended. I'm going to the kitchen to take another anti-biotic. :-(

I've got a MX900 that I have been using for about a month in y own system. All in all I think I will stick with the MX850 for as long as I can, or until something better comes along. Even with some the conveniences like fast uploads/downloads I do not think that the MX900 is better for my clients.
I'm Not an engineer, but I play one on TV.
My handle is Tweety but I have nothing to do with the organization of similar name. I just had a really big head as a child so folks called me tweety bird.

OK you cannot leave me hangin! Why? I was going to order 10 mx900 and 2 mx850 tomorrow. Should I swap those quantities?

Personally, I think the remote looks very slick compared to the MX-850 and the beeps are a nice touch for about the same money. I just don't think the potential of having to scroll between more pages or choosing between Listen and Watch is as intuitive. An MX-850 with the blue light, beeps, more character for text, and similar styling would have been perfect.
