1, You have a 25 x 25 room.
2, You want serious "WOOF"

3 You want all this from an in wall sub in the
$1,500 range
All the subs mention above will give some bass
But not serious "WOOF"

I don't know what's funnier, QQQ thread about
his lucky day
or this one.

I know, I know!!! It's about 14,000 cubic feet... Now this is an older couple (mid-sixties)... I think there have been some good suggestions here... I think what I'll do is talk to them about trimming out some fat in other parts of the system, and going with a pair of the Bay Audio guys, that Big Papa has been using. I'll also put some transducers in the floor of their raised seating platform...

I know it was a tall order... but ya never know!

Or, I could plate-mount a pair of 15 inch JBLS and couple them with an Electronic EQ, Richter Scale and a Crown amp... Gotta move some air in that size of a room!

Has anyone, or does anyone use the Earthquake "Thors"? or are they lame?

Glackowitz,
The Eminent Technology Rotary Sub... Is that thing
for real? It looks like some engineer ingested
some LSD, went outside and ripped off his car's
air conditioning unit & stuck fan blade on it.
I've got to say that is interesting... I'll have
to see if anyone has reviewed it out there!!!

here are a few I found

Glackowitz...
That is pretty amazing! It looks like it might be fairly easy to build... $12,000 bucks...Hmmm Maybe $500 in parts?

I have friend who is one of those crazed scientist speaker tweaker / designers... I'll forward those websites to him...Probably send him into orbit!

[Link: earthquakesound.com] Great sounding subs that fit into a 4 inch wall space, use your own fabric of choice for the grill with the included mounting hardware. Earthquake Thor kit includes 2 subs and and a rack mount amplifier. Triad is of course always a great choice as well

The Definitive Tech in-wall subs perform great.
They come in 2 sizes and either size can be either
a one or two sub system. They start at $1600
retail.

These things ROCK!

I want to hear one, the Test results from various people say it cracks walls in older homes due to the amount of air movement.

I guess anything is possible 12,900 does seem pretty high for a variable picth fan, seems like it should include the amp and x-over for that kind of money

Is an Infinite Baffle sub an option? Its likely the easiest way to get true reference level bass from an 'in-wall' subwoofer.

I could probably persuade them to go with (4) of the dual 8's and an SA400... Around $2400 bucks plus or minus a buck or two!

My friend who is the Def Tech rep also says for around $1500 i could use their dual 10's with their amp... but this is a pretty big area. Thanks for your suggestion...

Polk has some new in wall subs with discrete amps (RM100 and RM200). I am using one on a new job. Pretty reasonably priced. Can't offer any feedback sicne I haven't heard it yet. It's for a subordinate area, so if it isn't monumental, it won't be a problem since they really didn't think they needed the extra LF reinforcement to begin with.

Check out the James inwall Subs. We use them and the Traids. I really like the James sound and they ship with the amp. They also Have subs that mount in the Attic and port into the room through a pipe.

I saw those. They look pretty wild. Heavy aluminum or metal enclosures, and the Bass-Hose thing. A nice high-end alternative.
A pal of mine says their floorstanding speakers are quite spectacular too.
