Funny, cause I just had a buddy who does networks and and all that bring me a DLO and ask me to program it and a few other devices into a remote for a friend of his. So I have the thing downstairs. I'll do some early morning hangover programming on it and see how it flies......sounds like its the pigs tits though.

And since Ernie won't keep count, I will. Hes up to 249, and counting.

I also use the DLO/IPod units.
Most recently to control a QRS pianomation system.
With IR control the Homeowner can view his piano song selection on the TV screen.
I have already done several on these, people love it.

Ok. The results are in.

The DLO HomeDock Deluxe iPod dock is a winner!

It's working great when controlled by an RTI T1
and T2+ with RP-6.

The video is much cleaner through the S-Video
connection to the local display. That leaves
you the composite video to route the on-screen
interface to your video distribution system.

We also successfully put an RTI video sync module
on the composite video output and have reliable
power on/off commands.

We contacted DLO and they said that cover art
will not be displayed because it is an Apple limitation.
Even the Crestron CEN-IPOD does not have cover
art.

All in all, a very nice solution that is a real
enabler to bigger things.

Later,

George P.

That is almost verbatium what I was going to post after messing with one for about an hour.

Guess I have to use a T3 for that job and a RP rather that the cheaper TUS7500 and RFX6500.

When you talked to DLO was there any chance of a On and Off command? also Video Mode vs On Screen? I mean thanks to $50 adapters we can work around.. but could they just give us some Hex?

Also since there is no video on power off and on video mode then its 2 part. So It could have a ON command but doing it blind is still an issue.

Well, I finally bought an I-pod today so I could experiment with it!

I asked my daughter if I good borrow hers for a couple days and she looked at me like I just shot her mom!(my wife)!!

If it sounds good afer I record some songs at a 'reasonable' compression rate, I'll buy the DLO homedock and see if it makes me happy!
Every day is a good day.......some are just better than others!

Proud to say that my property is protected by a high speed wireless device!

Wired just put up an article discussing this very topic.
[Link: wired.com]

"The iPod's measured behavior is better than many CD players," concluded an exhaustive review and performance test in Stereophile magazine, "Excellent, cost-effective audio engineering from an unexpected source."
