I'm interested to get my hands on a manual to see what it's all about. I'm very far from being a fan of Monster's business tactics, but that doesn't mean this will not be a viable alternative in a relatively small niche. We'll all find out soon enough.

Thank you,
Damon DG

The industrial design?

Someone slammed his hand deep into the stomach area of the original Robbie the Robot,* grasped what he could feel, and pulled it out. That is the look that this Monster-osity has.

*Industrial design dated such that it was complete and constructed by "Forbidden Planet," 1956; imbd.com lists "his" date of birth as July 1, 1955.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

With that many buttons it would probably easier for a client to use all of their original remotes.

50 Buttons by my count... 48 on an MX-950

Do those 2 Buttons really push it over the edge of usability?

It is "powered by logitech" - probably very similiar to the 890.

I have a little experience with an early production Monster AVL - 100, which looks almost identical to the AVL - 300. They tend to look a little intimidating in photos, but once out of the package, they aren't that outlandish. The button layout is different, and there will be a learning curve, but then again there always is with a new product.

The AVL - 100 is programmed via the internet with Monster branded software powered by Harmony. This is stated on the package. The programming interface is similar to the 890's. The 100 seems to have similar functionality to the Harmony 880, but the AVL - 100 has different buttons and functions. The 'Select' button in the center is a joystick/button.

Unfortunately I haven't had time to program and use the AVL - 100 yet, so I have not developed any strong feelings about it. I also have no idea if we have plans to carry the 100 or the 300 now or in the future.

Bose will never make a universal remote. Why should they? Ever seen a Bose system with anything it it other than a TV?

Other than the cosmetics... if it works, might not be a bad piece... But it kinda reminds me of the mid-70's early 80's JVC receivers... It does look cheap... not something you'd leave laying out on your $3500 coffee table...

OK, so the new Bose remote has alot of buttons and is kinda ugly. But I'm sure it sounds incredible, after all it is made by the greatest speaker company in the world. Just ask Paul Harvey or the dude at CC or the dude at the outlet mall.
It's such a fine line between stupid, and clever.
