i need to add a line of value receivers that have component video switching....not upconverting to component.

i really liked the kenwood soveriegn line but that went the way of the doedoe bird.

something that i could sell with a plasma and some onwall speakers for the customer who doesnt want to spend a ton of dough.... something around 500 bucks retail or am i being unrealistic with expectations......

i have an awsome line of onwall speakers that i use...they are wm44 from rbhsound. just got mine today and do they sound sweet!!!!!!! but mine are hooked to an ada system which definately does not qualify as value receiver.

look forward to seeing some ideas

Integra DTR4.5 is a killer entry level receiver at $500 with component switching. It is being replaced with the 4.6 that adds am XM tuner and upconverting for only $100 more. You would not be disappointed in the entire line, check it out!

is integra a good line....we deal with the likes of ada, parasound and other high and mid level product......woud this make a good mix?

i'm also afraid that integra is everywhere and easy to shop for price, basically a comodity and not special. really dig the xmradio feture....big plusfor me.... yamaha i'm not to comfortable with but open to the idea........

dont like the idea of a second zone...just more things to go wrong...but who says you have to use it.

thank you for your insite and suggestions... i asume that avad carries those?

what would be a good entry level remote to sell them with this...nevo sl? something from htm or rti?

Integra is very limited distribution here. Not at AVAD. Yeti what problems have you had with the DVD players?

Dude, Integra is one of the most protected lines of Japanese electronics in our industry. Bulletproof control options (232 and IR inputs), discretes for everything and they sound pretty good too. The 4.5 is perfect at $499 retail.

If you get your stuff from AVAD, see if your rep carries Marantz. I switched from Denon to Marantz (now the same company, practically) about a year and a half ago, and have been happy with their stuff so far.

Just my $.02 worth,

just call the Integra 800 # and ask. The XM tuner is on all of the .6 receivers that are just starting to ship now. And the powered zone to could not be simpler or more reliable for doing a single whole house zone. Don't knock it till you try it.

Denon AVR-785 (maybe 786 now) upconverts to component and has zone 2 for $500 retail. Also supports discrete codes.

ok it seems there are only 3 real choices from what you guys say. integra, denon and marantz. i guess i will purchase an integra peice and try it at my house first.

only problem is it wont be a fair fight considering i have ada cinema reference and suite 16 for whole house video and sound.

i will be using the integra as a zone for the suite 16. i will route component video input from whole house sound, then the other component videofor the local dvd player or hdtv sat receiver. basically i will remove my suite 7.1 and ada amp from that zone.

i will be using my new rbhsound wm24 onwall speakers to compliment my new 50 "dwin plasma.

i see where a 2nd zone could be practicle in real world but not applicablein my house.

i will order an integra on monday after i find out who my rep is

Yamaha makes several. The entry level RX-V457 retails for $350 - component switching, XM, discrete speakers a & b (b shoots in stereo while a can do 5.1). Their concert (HTR) series does the same.

557 - $450 (Zone 2 external amp needed)
657 - $550 (Zone 2 internal amp)

The 657 is great. We're sporting that in our HT for the moment.

The Yamaha custom series is fairly well protected in town here. Seems even BB sells the concert series for msrp. Ebay is another story - grey market, no warranty lying cheating thieves (ask me how I really feel). I'm finding more and more clients have been disenfranchised by the behemoth so it's been hardly an issue of late.
Manuals?! We don't need no stinking manuals! a.. er..

Dittos on this. They actively pursue things on ebay and other web sites and cancel offending dealers. You won't get shopped. It is a great line. The early DVD changers (around 2001 or so) had a flaw from whoever they bought their subassemblies from but I've not had troubles of late. They have been good to me.

They also have a decent 100wpc slave amp that is good for zone 2. Auto power on with trigger or audio input.

Another fun add-on is the Onkyo DS-A1 iPod dock. Plug it into any Integra receiver thru (usually) the tape input and you've got remote control of the iPod. Hit play on the iPod and the receiver auto switches to tape input. It's a hit with clients who dig their iPods.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
