: I just thought you might find that interesting,
: the rest of you probably said ....SUCKER... he
: works on Saturday!

heh... when you do retail, you HAVE to work Saturday! (or when you're filling in for a bud who is a dj in a titty bar, you have to work Saturdays, but that's not really work... hehehehehe)

I just went through the Blose thing with a customer Friday... He was asking how the NHT system i just installed compares to Bose... I covered my mouth, turned around, faced the wall, and said, 'this is what blose sounds like...'.. then, , I turned back around and did my best Opera Man impersonation, saying 'THIS IS WHAT NHT SOUNDS LIKE'

he got the point.

Ok.. it's Sunday... off to work I go.....
We can do it my way, or we can do it my way while I yell. The choice is yours.

"look I don't care what you have to say!
I want this Bose system and I want it set up this weekend with the TV that I bought from your company. Pick up the system that has the Whole package in one box."

No.

"what did you just say?"

I said no. If you want that system you have to buy it yourself. You also need to sign a contract stating that you except that while we will install the bose, we can not be held responsable for the performance. You will pay labor rates for anything having to do with the Bose."

FINE!

I stood off to the side listening to this argument between client and my boss.

A week later there I am. reduced to hooking up a Bose system in this guys bedroom. It takes me a few hours to get all the furniture drilled and soforth to run the wires. Then the included wires pulled rather than the usual UL/CL3 wire I am used to.

Finally I get the whole thing wired as per the directions. The first thig I felt I MUST DO, was wash my hands. I had touched the things with my bare hands.

My Boss is sitting there asking me to operate the Bose system. Seeing as I had never thought to take out the remote I looked a little lost. So he snatches it away and fires the system up. The customer has his favorite CD and is all ready to "SHOW YOU PEOPLE THE REAL DEAL" (He actually called it that.)

So we pop in Charlotte Church and sound comes out. It sounds pretty blah top me but it is really quite. Now the customer increases the volume so we can get, "THAT BOSE SOUND!"

CRACKLE HISSS CLACK CLACK distortion and high pitched squeeles. It seem that "Dem Bose" don't do too good with Hi Frequency tones or Low ones either. And this recording had a ton of both. The first thing you noticed was the clacking distorion when the vocalist would get going. Then when the symphony kicked in the sub would chuff and bottom out.

The guy cranked it down fact and got it down to low to quite listening levels. Sounded fine. But when ever he turned it up to even moderate levels... he got the same results.

My boss excused himself and went into the hall way. As I peaked around the corner I noticed him laughing his head off. I was trying to keep it under control as the customer kept doing it. Everytime it made the "BOSE SOUND" he would cringe and lower the volume. He did this like nine times.

Then he asks me to "Step over here a minute."

"I know that your Boss hates Bose, but you did all the wiring work right?"

Yes

"Well I need to ask you something." He looked over his shold and seemed to check about the room before he confided...
"Did you do something to the system?"

Excuse me? What do you mean?

"Did you do something to it to make it sound so bad?"

Actually I did. (Looking back over my shold then mimicing his scoping of the room....

I PLUGGED IT IN!

System was removed and replaced later that day. He returned it.
