I'd say that one out of every 3 that I sold developed
problems in the LCD panels within the first 2

I thought that it was just me.

Nope! I'd say you're experiance was 'above average', sad to say.

I sell and/or have installed most of the above-mentioned projectors, the sharp's the Dwin's the Sim2's and so forth are all great performing projectors, but after a zillion A/B tests, none of them (except for the 3 chips) beat the Dreamvision Dreamweaver HD2 plus for picture quality and customer service. I always tell potential customers to go and look at all of the above mentioned projectors first, which they usually do, and then I show them the Dreamweaver, almost every single one of them decide to buy the Dreamweaver in the first 30 seconds, the funny thing is they always mention how bad the Runcos are by comparison.

The units from Projection Design are our first choice. Small but solid, easy connector layout, great picture, reliable control. Not to mention, outstanding support. Last week they provided us a loaner for a client's screening party (temporary setup), bringing it to the site personally & sticking around during the show to make sure it ran alright.

They'll have our business forever.

Hey Doug, those look pretty interesting. Is there a rep or distributor in our area (I'm in Philly)? Are the PJs their own design or are they rebadged units from somewhere else?

Thanks in advance.

I vote for the DWIN TV3+. It is such a nice solution. 2 piece design. Decent vertical lens shift. Moderatley priced. Very good optics. Mutiple Video inputs including 2 DVI/HDCP inputs. Small foot print, not too loud (but not the quietest I've ever heard either). Good zoom range (appx 1.4 ~ 2.1 screen width). One proprietary (but modestly priced) DVI cable to the projector(which also controls the PJ). Symetrical design which makes for a breeze to mount to the ceiling (as opposed to most PJ's where the lens is not symetrical to the chassis).

Some of the people at the factory are a little goofy, but I have not had very many reliabilty problems with their prods.

My only quip: Video based de interlacing is just so - so. But then that is true of many systems.

I was going to respond with the Dwin yesterday... its our favorite. We have recently become Dreamvision dealers after being dumped by Vidikrons new rep. We only bought one in a year and he came in with a hatchet because he wanted to get a certain big dealer an exclusive... oh well.

Dreamvision projector looks great but admittedly has a problem with a squealing noise. They supposedly have quite a few of these squealers around and blame it on Infocus. On the low side... their new Dreamy sure looks kickass for a $2400.00 unit. Quiet as a mouse too!

I didn't respond because I figured you were looking around 20K... the Dwin is only 11K but we have a lot of them up and have experienced decent service and few failures. We too love the 2 piece design and the ease of install and calibration. The new Transvision4 should be out in a few weeks... interested to see it.

TV 4 MSRP $6500 (with Dark Chip 2) isn't expected until mid to late April and I'm betting on May. This will be a big seller even though it has no vertical lens shift.

TV3+ Enhanced (with Dark Chip 3) for $12k is expected in mid Feb.

On the low-end, the Epson Powerlite 200+ has an incredible picture (after calibration) for a $3000 LCD.

We used to use Runco, but had some serious issues with the 710s and 910s locking up. Picture is pretty awesome though.

Anthony,

You talking about the 1920x1080 LCD? If so, isn't that over $20k?

yes that is the one I am talking about, at CEDIA the rhumer was that it would be 25K MRSP, but a bit earlier today someone had said that it was lowered (AVS Ultra high end forum). I tried going to Fujitsus web site, but the projector one is down.Still waiting to see what he heard and what the new price will be, so not sure if it is under 20k, but if they did lower it, it should be around there
