So now this storm is a category 2 and the projected path has been changed again. And if it follows this one, it will be the first storm that I’m aware of where the eye crosses the mountain range

Dropped to a 2, but still going to dump an incredible amount of water.

Storm surge claims have gone down from an expected 10 to 13, to maybe 3 or 4 on the island, although they still expect the high numbers north of me..

Most of the heavy flooding is going to be along the inland areas from 10 to 50 or so miles.

The outer banks, well north of me, are already having the tides rolling over the dunes.

They still havent cancelled our flight down saturday morning....

Problem Im now having is I have a contractual obligation to pick something up in Spartanburg on Monday. My only saving grace is if our flight gets cancelled then I can reschedule. Looks like for the most part spartanburg/tryon are spared alot of the wet stuff.

what a mess, I cant even imagine the other side of things wondering if you will come back to your home or not.

I was wondering when you were going to buy a new car.

Funny, My truck got damaged via a uhaul trailer and the rental place gave me a mini van. Cara wont go near it since she says its an automatic assumption of pregnancy...She wasnt wrong, My neighbor came over and said SEEE! I told you you would get rid of your fancy little coupe for a minivan! LOL!

I told him it was a rental and there was something fancier coming soon. He seemed upset that that was the case lol!

The Spartanburg/Greenville area is really, really nice. I picked up a car I bought online there in '09.

Personally, I would love it if BMW made a minivan, but that would never happen. And besides, Chrysler has the patent on Stow-N-Go. :-)

They technically do! It’s called the 2 series active tourer and it looks exactly like you would think. Fortunately it’s one that isn’t available here. Just sad that bmw even has this in its lineup!

The rental van I have is a dodge and has the stow and go system. It’s works unbelievably well and is some of the most clever engineering I have ever seen come out of Detroit! The thing is a turd though lol! This being said the seats are one of the most comfortable seats I’ve ever sat in. (Not counting the unabtainable luxury vehicles I’ve been in) :P

Still up in the air as to any damage.

There is flooding on Oak Island, and now we're getting reports of quite a bit of trees down and house damaged.

Neighbor as out and put up a video of the beach. The dunes (newly built and replenished) are holding for the most part. but there is some break through at the beach access points.

Kind stiff winds here in Greensboro though, and some of the siding has blown off.

I cannot catch a break...LOL

I'm just south of Charlotte. It's been sort of crazy watching the forecasts struggle with this guy. At first it was going to pass north over Charlotte. Then it was going to go south and loop all the around and end basically about the same place. Then it decided to just go directly west young man over Charlotte. Now it's back to doing a lesser loop but passing more or less over us still us.

But at least it's dumping energy fast before moving west. It's down to a tropical storm now. Here it's going to be a bit nasty but not too dangerous or anything. We are currently in alternating bands of wind and calm as the arms sort of rotate by us. The rain won't kick in here until later tonight. Tomorrow will be the ugly day, then Sunday evening (if things stay as predicted at this point) it'll get back to semi-normal (assuming any of us have power of course.)

The RADAR right now looks like a giant amoeba is creeping towards us.

I’m bored to death with this hurricane. The hype has been built for a week, and now that it’s hit land, it’s barely moving. They are saying about 2 days before it gets to us. But even though the storm has been downgraded, we are already so saturated with rain, when it gets here the flooding is probably going to be bad. We decided to pull the campers out of our place at the river.

I don’t know how but our flight (arriving in Charlotte around 9:30am is still “on time” makes no sense. My guess is we’re going to be living in the airport all day. .
