One of my clients contacted me about not hearing voice from the headset mic connected to the XBox 1 when the kids are using Party Mode to play games with people outside of the home- the on-screen message said NAT needed to be enabled, but I found that it WAS enabled when I checked the Airport Extreme router. When I tried to check NAT in the XBox 1 setup, the screen showed a message with 'No Teredo IP address found', so I called AppleCare and as soon as I mentioned 'Teredo', told me it's a Spectrum issue.
Any gamers here and what do I need to do in order to get the mic to work?
Sound is fine with the XBox, they have Beats headphones with built-in mic. I haven't been able to get through to Spectrum because the on-hold time is insane today but I expect them to say it's an Apple problem.
Maybe, I can finally get him to buy a new router.

Made me laugh. When I read Airport Extreme, I thought "maybe a better router."

Teredo is IPv6 related. On rare occasions I've seen the Xbone (and the Xbox app on PC) fail to initialize this properly. If nothing else has changed, have them power off modem, router and xbox for a few minutes and then power back up in that order. If that doesn't work there's an option to allow Teredo tunneling in the Airport Utility app, it should be enabled. Also relevant: [Link: discussions.apple.com]

If I get him to switch to a different router, I think some of this will auto-config, right?

Most resi-grade, non-apple routers have UPnP on by default, so it should work out of the box. I think I had to do some config on Pakedge re-badged Fortinets to get the Xbox to register as 'Open NAT' instead of 'Moderate' or 'Strict'.
I have seen the issue occur on other hardware but its always resolvable w/ a reboot, so I assume its a one-off connectivity or protocol issue.

Of course they do. Think about it: they actually PAID for it! I think it’s more than that- they’re part of the group that wants to be special and unique, by hitching their wagon to hardware that’s kind of futuristic-looking, technology that’s not used by the majority iOS computers make up about 25% of the market and to your point, they paid A LOT for it. I HATE paying a lot for a damn phone but since so many of my customers use Apple, I had to. Now that my iPhone 6 is paid for, I’m thinking of getting a flip phone, then use the smart phone apps on-site with WiFi. Between that and my AARP member discount, I should be able to cut my phone bill in half. Screw text and apps- I’m never far from WiFi, anyway.

Fargin’ Apple! You may have to dig into the Airport setup then. I wonder if they've always had a strict/moderate NAT at the Xbox but its only problematic w/ a subset of other Xbox users? In my experience, if everyone else has an Open NAT, a single person with restrictive settings can still connect. But, if the Xbox is showing a Teredo failure, I think that precludes any chat at all, so possibly not. Is the ISP-provided box a modem or a router? If a router, I'd check that DMZ is enabled and properly aimed at the Airport device next.

The Spectrum box is just a modem- if I wanted to continue to deal with the Apple stuff, I would get a different router and use the Airport Extreme as a WAP, but I want to get them into something better and this is as good a reason as any.

I was having NAT issues and was able to fix them by turning on the energy saving feature which disables the quick start up. It now takes 10-15 seconds for xbox to start but fixed my NAT issue. IF the router allows you to change MTU settings they should be around 1458
Also look in your device configuration and make sure the controller is recognizing the head set as a head set with mic.
look at the party chat mix slider which balances between game sounds and party chat
