The reason that this is the perfect post is that it NEVER EVER EVER NEVER matters what model the AVR is. The brand doesn't matter, either, right?

This post and the answers to my questions do not require the AVR's model number.

You...or anyone else...would be wasting your time worrying about the model number of the AVR.

Stop worrying about the model number. Focus on the question being asked.

That's supremely bitchen. I wish I had a need for it. It's just great.

Like I said, the model number doesn't matter.

You said it but it sure seems like it matters to you.

And still, he's not sharing the model number.

Because you/he doesn't need it. He asked why i need the APC-2 and i answered. You don't need the model number to confirm my answer. You can choose to believe me or not.

This happens often enough that I'm beginning to think I need to make a list and have people initial each thing they do and don't want for each room.

It wont matter. 2 weeks after you finish a new product will come out and you are back to square one.

We did a boat last year with custom triad speakers. New head unit is "sirius ready" so even though "we dont need that" we put it in...using the existing sirius antenna already mounted on the top of the 100+ year old steam ship that was converted to electric. Want to guess what the most important issue with that boat is this year?....Getting a new Sirius antenna installed...even though they dont need it.

People simply have no concept that adding these things is not like putting a spoon full of sugar into your coffee. Entire systems have to be redesigned, leading to situations like this:

If they don't want to finance your boat, they can make up their minds ahead of time!

If i take the AVR out-->in to the Sonos how do i control the AVRs with the Sonos app?

As I understand it, the Sony ES receivers respond to the Connect when you use the app. Auto switch to the Sonos input, and ramp up the volume on the AVR so the app volume provides normal volume.

I had an extended conversation with Brian from Integra, and told him how valuable I thought that could be with their AVRs, especially with the popularity of Sonos.

I am looking forward to the roll out with Integra.

I forgot, no one uses those anymore.

Why should we assume anything? The big question has to do with why the Sonos has an amplifier. Maybe it went in first, but using a Connect would have eliminated the problem.

I'm sure you've already thought of this, and it might be a bit "janky" but you could possibly use this to trigger the switch that is already there when the AVR comes on

Sonos Connect Amps went in first. TV's all had just a DirecTV receiver.

There are 28 Connect Amps in the house. 5 rooms have AVR's+AB Switches.

If i take the AVR out-->in to the Sonos how do i control the AVRs with the Sonos app?

The client has money- who recommended adding the AVRs? If it was their request, I would change to Connect on those rooms. In the grand scheme of things, it's not going to break the bank- they already spent over $14K for Sonos.

How are you controlling the AVRs now?

If they have Garmin navionics and UHF radio, look into the combo antenna that does Sirius and either GPS or ship to shore radio. I would be surprised if Raymarine and Simrad don't have this, as well.

The AVR zones have harmony remotes. The client wants to use the Sonos app to control music so unless or until the receivers Tom mentioned exist I have to keep the connect amps.

The issue I see here is, won't this over-ride the TV suddenly if someone is watching? I'm sure the wife or whoever will be grouping all the zones together - then she fires it up and kills the TV feed suddenly.

Oops...

That is exactly what would happen.

The Sonos app has always asked you to confirm whether you want to override TV sound. I am supposing that would not change.

But again, switching to Connect units (without the amp) would accomplish the same, eliminating the need for the additional expense of the A:B switches and setup. It would require adding the Sonos activity, but that shouldn't take long unless custom buttons are used and need to be mapped.

What about going high level to low level- done right, it doesn't screw up the sound so much that it makes people gag, so you could use one of the AVR inputs for that.

Which Harmony remotes?

This is not a solution unless the AVR can be turned on automagically via the sonos app/sonos connect.

Currently the client can turn music on in every room from the app. Forcing him to use a harmony remote or app to turn on any room with an AVR adds steps so it doesnt fix anything.

Which Harmony remotes?

Harmony Ultimate...they came out right before the latest Elite/Pro. They have similar features to the Elite.

Is this the hub used by those remotes?
