Thank you to all that have provided feedback. I understand we are all simply “speculating” here. I for one would like to get some concrete feedback from Sound United as to what their plan is moving forward. I joined the HEOS bandwagon at product announcement and am very happy as far as the product mix and development goes... I just want to know if I should continue to back it! Will the line continue and be supported? What is the exit strategy? Compensation is some form to the end user as well as the dealers is in order if you jump ship on the product... If it’s a dead horse, fess up and let’s move on.

Sound United?
Denon?
Marantz?

They will limit features in the HEOS app and change features to skirt the law.

I could care less about the HEOS app, Denon should focus on the 3rd party integration and let us put whatever on top of it. The people that want Sonos dont need us anyway.

How the tide has turned. Sonos is officially the HEOS killer.
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I’m sure they will be quick to jump in here and let you know the answers to all of those questions ;-)

As the end user / installer, you’ll be the last to know. The mindset is keep moving boxes until the very last minute as long as they can.

it really makes me wonder who on gods green earth at D&M thought doing this was a great idea. I mean they even have the nomenclature (or did) to be a blatant rip off of sonos

there is nothing ilegal about monitoring patents. But what it seems is they monitored and viewed the patents and blatantly ripped them off.

I think that at some point, someone said "What's the worst that could happen?".

So, in the end a decade later nobody has come up with a Sonos killer?  They must be waiting for the exact right time to.....POUNCE!

I happily installed a SONOS system today. A Playbar with a connect amp for rears, a Playbase in another room, a connect running 7 rooms, and a boost. So easy. Not a hitch. Customer loves it. No headaches. Money in the bank. Winning!

So, I want to be clear on this....Is Denon going to have to discontinue Heos?  If so, I have a few websites that needs adjusting.

Well, this is one of the BIG questions I would like to get answered as well! It seems the powers that be are being very tight lipped about it as I am unable to get ANY concrete information one way or the other from any of my contacts.

Maybe one of the SONOS integrators could reach out to their contacts? Maybe they would be more forthcoming as to what the outcome was from the trial, and what the future holds. I find it difficult to believe they were awarded a settlement and would allow HEOS to continue “business as usual”.

Maybe they were banking on Sonos not having enough money to fight them in the courts.

When they released Heos, Bain Capitol couldn't even refinance the D&M debts... so it wasn't as if the arm of D&M was in good shape to begin with!
The recall of batteries for the Heos 1, quick replacement of the 1st gen products (no high-def, no bluetooth - really?) - it has been a fairly expensive exercise thus-far.
Sonos wouldn't be able to fight the BIG boys like Samsung etc, but I'm picking they wouldn't have been worried about D&M.
This industry is not getting cheaper and cheaper, we're simply convincing ourselves that we have to push the cheapest option to customers.

What sucks is that at least Denon supports this channel. I have used Heos whenever possible as a stand alone, and now that they have a good working module for Crestron was starting to install them in Crestron projects as well. WTF!!!

I am still being optimistic. It ain’t over till the fat lady sings... The recent firmware deals with one of the patent infringements of “group volume” at least as far as I can tell.
