To the guys that saw the Z panels-
The reps are claiming it's on par (or better than) the OLED.
Your thoughts?

On another note:
Did anyone see Sonos integration (native) first hand at the show? I'm curious to see how many control systems were able to demo this. I know Crestron wasn't there, but there was a presence of it at various booths. True Blue said the Pyng/Sonos rollout would be shortly, so I was hoping to hear if it might have been there.
Thanks guys!

You should check out Austin before ruling out the whole state. You would probably enjoy Austin.

Pro Audio had a pretty powerful demo. I am working on a design with them so it was good to get a face to face.

Agreed, the best sounding system out there IMO. And good people too.

Try coming out to Seattle and hang out with me for a day on Capitol Hill, I dare you.

It is a pretty cool place but SERIOUSLY makes me question the continuing existence of the human race.

Sony Z9D was outstanding. Much better brightness than the OLED. We looked at the Z9 and ran to go look at the G6. Z9 is better.

Sony Rack Mount ES UHD BluRay.

Sony ES receivers all have Atmos...finally.

URC added Alexa, push notifications, and intercoms via 7100 and 7600.

Sonance redesigned the Mariner series, added a separate sub, and add the LS48 in 8 ohm.

JAP has a 3g POE piece that is small and amazing. The tiler is very very cool.

Luxul added a router with a controller built in. They made a wireless bridge....about 10x bigger than a Loco M5. They also have a router that will forward more packets, better processor and more RAM.

Middle Atlantic is finally making a rack to compete with Snap.

Not as many booth babes as in past years.

I saw the Crestron demo with Sonos, there is still some work to go. But one has to start somewhere. They have the link right to the Sonos app from the Crestron panel. Which is obviously a compromise at this point having to flip apps. At this point I would still suggest an Autonomics when doing Crestron systems.

I missed the head to head with the Z panel, the LG OLED, and the Samsung. I am told the LG won on black level. But one of the demo screens had a neon light with several colors. Neither the LG or the Samsung handled this vert well compared to the Sony according to my co-worker. Who is also a videophile.

As for Texas, there is nothing or anyone in that state I envy. Plus the fact there are no mountains or snow for my winter time activities. I don't think I need to explain why I am not a fan of the summers down there either. If we are lucky Mexico will take their land back soon. ;)

Well, when that happens, I hope your Spanish is good. Because they will get a big chunk of Colorado too.

But I completely understand about the issue of the mountains and heat. Although, the older I get, I'm liking winter less and less too. When I was a kid, I thought adults were nuts complaining about snow and the cold.

Oh you got that right on the summers. Love me some winters though.

Sounds like you need a Texas road trip if you missed the snow and mountainous parts of Texas. Not in the summer of course :)

Remember I lived in No. Mexico for over 30 years, I'll survive with a little practice. Plus Mexican food in Colorado pretty much sucks. So this could be a blessing for my taste buds.

As get older I hate the heat more and more. I've lived in both Palm Springs and Phoenix in my 20's. And was a regular at Lake Havusu most summer holidays for many years. Going out in the cold does not bother me at all. As my favorite hobby is a cold weather sport. I have almost 50 days of riding in the last 2 years.

Well aint you clever. :)

Expo floor can also kill the soul. Nothing earth shattering there this year for sure. The double sided LG TV was pretty cool though. Impressive. And actually not too terribly bad at $9900.

is there an official comparison on these panels? I scanned cepro this morning looking for an article on the comparison or an award but couldn't find anything.

I think overall the market is very evolutionary and not revolutionary....products are released all year long and thus the introduction of new products at CEDIA is sort of luck and not intention.

I thought the best information at the show was the Metra Lunch and Learn presentations on what true 4K signal transmissions mean for us. It ain't good....
Jack Rainey - Full disclosure...reformed integrator, now mid-Atlantic manufacturers rep for: Integra, Paradigm, Anthem, Parasound, Atlona, LG TV's and Metra Home Theater...among others

That is because Crestron was not there. :)

How about projection demos and Dolby atmos Demos? Any comments for those areas?
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.
