Sony's new TV line and Projector line was top notch. This is the first time since the Trinitron days that I'd say that. We have been slowing moving back to Sony over the last 18 months, but the new Z series is going to be a hit.
I really like their projector line from bottom to top as well, and thought Sony looked better than both Epson and JVC. The motion processing, to my eyes, was better on the Sony demos.
The small room demo with Sony 665 and Seymour AT, 1-way masking screen, was a great real world demo that really popped. Good enough that I'm considering it for my own home.

Barco's 6K laser was a knock out as well, but that's a really small market.

Hard to say anything bad about the Epson or JVC demos, I think there is a good product for each price point and unless you see them back to back, you'd be happy with any of them.

How about projection demos and Dolby atmos Demos? Any comments for those areas?

The Atmos demo at Lyngdorf/Barco was good. On projection, JVC RS4500 was finally producing good pictures at JVC (never a fan of the e-shift units). Didn't want to stand in line for Sony so did not see that.

That is because Crestron was not there. :)

...but then I heard they were going to be there. What the hell? Were they there, or were they not there!?!

Not there. They announced it quite a while back, too, so I think it took a lot of people by surprise if they missed the story when it first came out.

The thing that I guess I'd say I'm most wary of is that CEDIA is apparently turning into DIYEDIA. And just like HDMI was forced onto us, there ain't a damn thing we can really do about it. Adapt or die, as always.

It's pretty telling when Amazon shows up, but Crestron does not. I'm a longtime Crestron fan boy, but I won't even try to deny the writing that's on the wall.

This: Modulus

They plan to ship a 13 TB unit for $2700 in the first quarter. The product can even save and store 4K streaming video. It’s like a TiVo, Plex, Roku, BD player and Kaleidescape wrapped into one.

A lot of it might of been just because of Dallas, but I agree, when you start taking in anyone with a pulse just to make it seem like your floor is full means something else is going on...

Not to turn this into a crestron debate but they really aren't relevant anymore in the resi market, but I do think crestron was tired of seeing "pulse booths" and they can see that cedia is falling apart at the seams!

Dammit! You can't drop bait like that! haha...

The DIY stuff seems to have stolen the lower end of the market, and the mid/high stuff has been all but conquered by Control4, Savant, RTI, etc... Crestron is still the best for the ultra high end, and that market IS shrinking.

I work with Savant a lot too, and as the jobs get larger, Savant gets slow and cumbersome. I actually really, really hate it... LOL But you know, you go where the market is.

For the bigger jobs I still push for Crestron. The market for custom projects is still out there, we have no shortage of billionairs in this country. For HDMI switching it is a no brainer. Savant, C4, and the others still all have their place in the market.
When good enough is not good enough.

I was going to have a party at my place ... about 40 minutes away in Carlsbad on the lagoon. Water toys!

Not familiar with that word. Is that like a toga party?
There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.
