Does anyone know of a similar non chief product that would operate the same way the PXRUB does? The PXRUB is discontinued.

I have one installed that locks up periodically. I am scheduled to troubleshoot in Florida next week but i want to have a plan B in the event that i cant sort it out.

Thanks

I didn't specify this but...

My application requires that the mount send the TV out of a cabinet...then twist it towards a desk then tilt it down slightly.

There is actually a second/separate motorized portion of this cabinet. In the off state there is a cabinet door hiding the TV. When a source is selected first the cabinet door slides straight up exposing the TV. Then the Chief mount sends the TV out abut 10" then it rotates it towards the clients desk and then it slightly tilts it down.

The QA2 covers out and rotate but not tilt. We might have to settle for this as long as i can mount the TV in a titled position.

FYI...

Chief confirmed that they no longer carry or repair this item. They have no replacement for it.

While troubleshooting i discovered that the mount isn't going into its home position. I did a couple of things that seem to have resolved it...at least for now.

#1. I removed the mount and installed 3/4" plywood that will sit between the mount and the cabinet back wall. The plywood acts as a standoff giving me more space behind the mount.

I did this because we have so many cables/widgets behind the TV that the arms were actually hitting a bundle of cables. While the mount was out i rerouted cables and removed a wall plate that was getting in the way. The 3/4" of extra space also helps with this.

#2. I adjusted the limit screw so that the TV hits the new "home" position which is about 3 inches from totally flat like it used to be. Now i am apx 3 3/4" away from the back wall with nothing interfering. Apx 30 tests of turning the system on and off with zero failures.

The main issue i had was that there are two moving mechanisms. The chief mount and a moving cabinet door that covers the TV. Programming has it so the Chiefs home position sends the "door down" command. When the chief wasnt going all the way home the door would stay up.

I imagine that as the chief mount gets older it will have to be fine tuned again and at some point it will have to be replaced. Hopefully thats in like 10 years and its someone elses problem :).

You hope to be dead in less than 10 years?
You certainly don't think you can escape this industry and certainly won't be able to ever retire.

Mac, I sold five of these and home is important for it to find. Every three years or so, I have to go reset them, play with them for 20 min each, then they seem to be good fir another three.

This is the only one we sold. It was added after the interior designer decided that the desk should be on an angle. Originally the TV sat in a cabinet and the cabinet door lifted up to reveal it.

Clients staff has caused the cabinet door to slam down on the TV a few times by unplugging the wrong thing behind the TV in an attempt to reset the mount. This cabinet door doesn't play nice. It grinds down fast and wont stop until power is killed. Then you have to manually free the TV from its jaws so that it can finish slamming closed.

The cabinet door was perfectly fine until the inspectors forced the builder (builder supplied cabinet/door) to swap the motors so they would pass inspection. Instead of slow and quiet its now fast and loud.

One trick i learned is that if the Chief locks up you can just hold the stop button in to get it to unlock. I discovered this by accident and later confirmed it with tech support. Im sure its in the manual that i threw away three years ago :).

I have found the manual online every time I go. Same here. They cleaned out the only drawer I had in the rack that held all of the IMPORTANT STUFF. I had a label on the front that said:

IMPORTANT STUFF DO NOT THROW AWAY

Guess what......they did anyway...brilliant!

I have a spare in my warehouse that quit working, sent it to service, they shipped me a new one at no charge to replace, then repaired the other one and shipped it back to me...no charge.

They do seem to be pretty bulletproof.

I have a feeling that they would have replaced it if they had any left.

Mac, sounds like you got the Chief mount all sorted out, but if someone else is looking for a similar solution I'll be installed my first Future Automation QA2-60 in a few weeks and can offer some more feedback on it then.

Received it recently and pulled it out of the crate to test.  It seems to be very well built (and heavy).  Arrived well packed in a strong crate:

So, how did that QA2-60 work out for you?
