I had to go in Walmart this afternoon (I don't know why, that's where my wife told me she wanted to go). As I was wondering around, I saw there was a bottle of wine shattered all over the floor (don't cry Kelly, it wasn't anything any good). It took 5 people to clean it up. The first guy looked like he came out of the meat department (had the white butchers coat on) and he stood in the aisle so no one would fall or get cut. The second guy came up carrying an orange Wet Floor sign and set it up. The third looked like a supervisor that showed up to make sure everything was right. Then two women arrived with a janitorial cart. They spread some kind of spill absorbing material on the floor (looked kind of like fake snow). Then one swept up the stuff and the other woman mopped the floor.

That is the SOP at Walmart. You would be amazed at the bottom feeders just searching around the store for a spill. Easy payday for them.

Comcast guy got three cable boxes Internet and Wi-Fi done in good time. It all looks great. I saw he was changing all of the wall plates. I asked him about it, and he said, I want to make sure we don't have any intermittent problems. Sounds good. Later, I had to pull one wall plate off to change it and feed an HDMI into the wall. Did he forget something when he changed the wall plate?

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions.

I hate to think I'm defending a Comcast installer, but I can't imagine that any of their installers would let this pass. I know that they don't carry any such F-Connector. If anything, they get points for replacing ends and docked if a follow-on installer replaces ends. I cringe at the thought of a Comcast installer coming near an installation because they'll probably replace any end that they discover. This looks like D.I.Y. or electrician grade work.

There is an underclass that would view that puddle as an opportunity. In my opinion it is not so much inept staff, but a legal defense. I'm sure that the whole operation was caught on camera. A single slip and fall could cost more than the lifetime salaries of the workers involved.

Did you shut your mouth and mow around her? Or did you have a moment of dumbness and tell her to move?

I would have mowed a nice little spot for her, set her chairs up and mowed circles around that shit all damn day!

As a formal Comcast installer, I saw this a lot.

You are right, that is not a connector that we would have installed. But this situation is something that I saw. Where I was the 2nd to 4th tech out on a trouble call.

I don't know if the previous "techs" were too lazy to replace that end. Or too stupid to find it.

I am currently working for an electrician. Of course they know that i worked at Comcast. So of course they are having me install the coax and ends. But... at least they have the same compression ends as Comcast does. So it's being done correctly, as apposed to the above radio shack special.

KOT,

Lazy? Ha!

In one install we replaced all of the RG-6 in a full remodel. Customer called Comcast for the setup.

Nothing worked.

Installer1: "Bad inside wiring."

[leaves]
[customer calls again]

Installer2: "Bad inside wiring."

[leaves]
[customer calls again]

Installer3: "Bad inside wiring."

[leaves]
[customer calls again]

[this time we are on site]

Installer4: "Bad inside wiring."

[attempts to leave, but his path is blocked]

Us: "Why don't you check the sidewalk vault?"

[very pained expression regarding the unreasonable demands of some customers and their 'expert' installers, but this guy decided to go the extra mile and accommodate this unreasonable customer once and for all, then stomps out to the vault]

(pulls cover)
(a few seconds elapse)

Installer4: "Gimme two minutes."

(picture!)

This reminds me of the old joke that starts:

How many [...target ethnic group...] does it take to change a light bulb? ...

Call it what you want but it happened to me (my first post here) and inadvertently fixed a whole neighborhood of problems that went undiagnosed for a year.

In my area that is what they call the cable junction box under an access panel in the sidewalk.

I'm sure this could happen, but you meant RG, not CAT, right?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.
