Ok in all seriousness,

I'm not excited about Dallas at all; I am excited about the BBQ though AND lots of alcoholic parties with you guys....

I could care less about what's on the floor, using this year to strengthen relationships with my reps and lines!!

If you want BBQ, you should have got it while you were down here. TX doesn't know shit about BBQ, they only know brisket.
Civil War reenactment is LARPing for people with no imagination.

FACT!

I'm excited that I'll get to hear all about the new whiz bang crap that will be released quarter something, while I'm at the beach.

Thinking about getting a different "service call" vehicle:

Talks with Snap? For what?

First, I'm a big Snap guy. I love their gear, support, rewards, etc.
I'm love the fact that they shocked this industry by giving the dealers affordable solutions with great margins to make money. It forced other distribution/manufacturers to restructure to survive.
Well now, some of the others distributers/manufacturers have adjusted leaving some of the gear I purchase from Snap questioning their value. I can get comparable brackets (in much smaller packaging) cheaper elsewhere. I can get comparable (or better) analog/IP surveillance elsewhere at half the price. We switched from Ubiquiti to Araknis recently and we love the stuff, but I think its overpriced. When they finally release their AC wap, whats that going to go for? I do love OVRC though. Like I said before, we are a big Snap supporter (currently Platinum dealer). My job is to my meet/exceed my clients expectations while providing them good value. At this point, my feelings about Snap are identical to those of Apple. They shocked the industry, and are now leading from behind.
Thanks,
JT

So Tucker, you going to guide me to some impressive beef? I have heard about Franklin BBQ, from what I can tell Austin and Dallas can't be done in the 3.5 days I'll be in town.

Your pork may be good, but I can get good pork closer to home. Something about carolina BBQ there. But I have a mission for a killer Rib Eye, Brisket, maybe one day for a salad. I believe your best vegetable is chicken?

And maybe some Tex-Mex for breakfast? Any of these places as good as the hype?

From that list I would definitely look into Manny's or Herrera's. For BBQ I would recommend you try Pecan Lodge, which is just a couple miles West of the Convention Center. Go for a late lunch or early dinner, otherwise you will be waiting in a line that wraps around the corner. A few miles South of Dallas is a BBQ place called Lockhart Smokehouse that is pretty great as well.

Try some of the local beers as well. Lakewood's The Temptress is a fantastic milk stout. Anything from Peticolas, Community or Franconia will be thoroughly enjoyable as well. Revolver Blood and Honey is real popular with the ladies, but at 7% it isn't a "girly beer."

When you want something easy to drink you can move on to Shiner and Rahr.

Enjoy the trip here (in spite of Dallas) and hopefully I will get to meet some of you guys while you are here.

I'm unfortunately not going this year because I thought I was going to Homeworks training in Nov. but that is likely being pushed into next year because the class is full.

As far as the show goes, there is nothing I'm interested right now. Maybe I'm just worn out but I feel like the industry has hit a lull. Crestron is on cruise control, Savant has lacked innovation for a year (or more) now, RTI will promise APEX in the 4th qtr and we won't see it until next spring, amps are amps, speakers are speakers, blah blah blah. I think it will be fairly boring floor but the after show festivities will be worth the reason to go.
