Another 15 minutes of my life wasted.
Time to open a bottle of Pinot, go stick my feet in the ocean, and do something really worthwhile. I used to come to this site everyday because of all the great threads and I could learn so much. Now because of crap like this I check in a few times a week and most of the time it is a waste of time.

On a car audio forum i used to go on, we had a Waste of Time section. Pretty much anything went there. I can imagine the photos of bad installs in a forum like that. The stuff I saw when I was doing car audio almost made me gag. People twisting the wires so they were straight and then wrapping duct tape around it so it looked like a little joint and then when it got hot, the glue would soften & get between the wire strands, so the customer came back to have it repaired under the lifetime installation warranty. What a hack! Then, there were the people whose neighbor or friend "who's good with this kind of thing" made a complete CF of the install. OTOH, there were the people who worked for large chains who were installers (and later, an install department manager) who was color blind. He also liked to use lots of caulk when he couldn't get behind a head unit to mount a back strap. One car came in years after the initial work to have everything removed so they could trade the car in. The wad of caulk was still soft in the center. I worked with a guy who would sing "Mamas, don't let yer babies be car stereo installators" (to the melody of 'Mamas, don't let your babies be cowboys') when he was pissed at the main sales idiot. Weird, but it kept him from beating the crap out of the guy. Personally, I think he should have bit the bullet and kicked his ass, but, well....
