Come to New Hampshire- no motorcycle helmets or seatbelts, unless you are under 18. Only state left, for now since we are becoming northern mass.
Here in CT, if you travel via ferry to Long Island, Block Island or what not. You better have a helmet with you. Because NY cops are waiting for those who don't have a helmet. So there's no "Oh crap, gotta go buy a helmet."
I swear motorcyclists think they have magic powers that protect them from the laws of physics.
Same physics for ATVs, by the way. They're not safer than motorcycles. Same speed, same physics, same injuries.

If I were to ride a crotch rocket, I'll def be wearing a helmet. Because I know how much of an ass I will be.
But if I were to ride a cruiser of such. I probably won't wear a helmet. But it all depends on how busy the road is or what not. Nevertheless, if you elect not to wear a helmet then you mush wear glasses to protect your eyes. That's how the law is written in CT at least.

Get hit by a car on a crotch rocket. Then get hit by a car on a Harley. Hit a rock in the road on a crotch rocket. Then hit a rock in the road on a Harley. Have a deer run out and hit you on a crotch rocket. Then have a deer run out and hit you on a Harley.
Which injuries are more severe? I was not aware that a Harley will keep you from dying when your head hits a paved road or a tree.
I've seen many people that wore a helmet that ended up dead. How do you explain that?

To say a helmet will save you in every instance is ignorant. To say not wearing a helmet is just as safe is also ignorant. There are circumstances to every incident that determine the outcome. A helmet IS safer. A seat belt IS safer. If you want to take the risk with your own life and not use these safety measures, be my guest. I hope you prove me wrong, but I know I wouldn't take that chance with my life. I only have one of them after all.

Hes saying that on a Harley he would be less likely to split lanes or drive too fast...the things that turn bikers into roadkill.
I have...i guess i should say HAD a lot of friends who have killed themselves on their motorcycles. None were wearing helmets. Only 1 was hit by a car. The others ran themselves into vehicles or walls. I can't understand why anyone would get on a motor cycle without a helmet.

Not true. Have known people that were hit and suffered scrapes, bruises, broken bones, or road rash. No head injuries. They wore a helmet
First, a story is not data. Several stories also are not data. And absolutely. This happens. Then again, people wearing helmets get killed. And all combinations in between! Why do you only pick one group to cite?
If there's a damage or impact scale from zero to a hundred with a hundred being running into a wall, you may survive a crash:
*from zero to twenty without injuries without a helmet; *from zero to fifty without injuries with a helmet; *not at all above fifty
The opinions you guys voice say, basically, that because a helmet won't protect me in cases that are the road equivalent of a thermonuclear blast, I won't wear one and gain the protection I would have in lesser impacts.
My son was riding his bike to work when a guy turned left in front of him. My son went over the hood at about 20 mph. (unlicensed illegal alien, unregistered car; California!)
The helmet was cracked. The skull was not. Doc said the helmet probably saved his life. Still, if there had been a thermonuclear attack, the helmet would not have helped at all, but I'm ridiculously glad he had been wearing one.

I've seen amplifiers that were toast because someone had put a load on them. So I'm never going to put a load on an amp.
That's what you're saying. You're equating the load that blew the amp (in my case, a dead short) with a load that's okay and survivable (a speaker). That really is ignorant because it says you can't evaluate gradations between an open wire and a dead short. Really? There's no difference?
The thing is, you just plain frickin' don't want to wear a helmet and you are bringing a part of your brain into play to create excuses that you will believe (because you're only using part of your brain here). Don't make safety decisions based on what you like or how you feel.

Riding a motorcycle or ATV is like driving a car without a seatbelt.
I've never heard or read that anywhere, but it seems really obvious.

"Life saving" lane splitting. No seriously...some idiots think lane splitting makes them safer lol ?search_query=motorcycle+lane+splitting+crash
In my mind, lane splitting should only be done in stop and go traffic when you have a bike that is air cooled. Other wise the engine will not be able to keep cool when a biker is moving with the traffic, or lack thereof moving.
Of course, you got the idiots in the videos above taking advantage of lane splitting.

In the Los Angeles area I regularly see motorcycles going over 30, running on the Zott's dots that separate the diamond lane from the stopped lane.
Anyone who drives faster or slower than regular traffic is completely trusting that nobody else does anything stupid. That is, they are doing something stupid but trusting that nobody else will.
I've seen people leave the diamond lane when they shouldn't. Add one motorcycle splitting lanes and you've got a bad accident.
