Good afternoon to all.

Issue:
I have a MX600 remote control with a "wigged out" touch panel. My best interpretation is that the actual touch panel module has failed as far as the "touch" capabilities are concerned. the loaded file does appear and looks normal but pressing any of the virtual buttons:

A: Also fires one of the lower hard buttons
B: Gives flaky and unexpected results.

Moreover, it is impossible to reset the panel to the factory default as the panel doesn't respond. Now to the meat of the issue. t

The panel is out of warranty. URC will be happy to sell me a new remote for multiple hundreds of dollars but will not provide any manner of repair for same.

Sooooo, does anyone out there in the blog-o-sphere have a potential remedy for repairing this remote...new TP Module replacement, etc. (I'm certain the modules are standard and they don't cost $500+ dollars). Secondly, it is worth noting that this rather cavalier attitude about product support or lack thereof is more than a bit repugnant. For me, this is the 3rd such incident involving remotes that required repair but repair RMA's were declined by URC. Very poor customer relations in my mind.

Thanks,

I had the same issue with one of our remotes.  I tried pulling it apart to check for loose cables, but that didn't help.

it isn't terribly difficult to pull the case apart if you want to go that route.

i heard that at one point they were replacing the mx6000 out of warranty if it had a touch screen issue.

oh yeah, i can't help it:

I had several that had similar issues, they were replaced out of warranty, 1.5 years old.

There's a reason that the mx6000 is no longer. And for what it's worth, urc tech support isn't worth much IMO.

Dave,

Thanks for the new "sxxt has arisen, Donny" department and I do hope the beveridge was a Caucasian? Actually went to see this film again just last week at the movie theater....still very funny.

As to tearing the unit down, not really interested to go through the machinations to no avail.

The issue is with the Touch Screen panel as it doesn't respond to any normal input commands as one would normally expect. I was hoping to find a source for a new TP Panel replacement. Not the end of the world but I would normally expect more from a supplier. I guess I was wrong? I'll take it up with my long term Rep.

Thanks for your input, however.

I'd love to know what that's about!

How old is the MX6000? What's the average life of A/V equipment, even average life nowadays of manners of getting A/V from one place to another over wires?
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

When I worked at URC, I setup a program which had pricing for various repairs out of warranty. They were actually losing money, because they didn't have any program in place prior. Since I left (over 10 years ago), they have discontinued the program. I'm assuming that has to do with internal repair capabilities and turn around time. The company has grown so much that they probably need to focus their efforts in other areas now. Now, out of warranty replacements at either dealer or dealer personal use/demo pricing. I'm not sure exactly.

I realize this may not be too helpful, but there's a little history lesson for you. :)

Any chance the macros don't include the Jump To function?
