They will also have 4zone rack mount amplifier which is simply a win-win.
Uh, you sure about that? absolutely, that is true. and potentially a 4 zone non-amplified piece.

Lol..
Seriously though, im with mini on this....the app is already better than sonos'. They have rdio and pandora which is what 99% of my clients use anyway. Its supposed to sound awesome. The only thing left is reliability....if it is, it could be the sonos killer.... I agree, it looks promising, was just busting his balls.

In my experience as a disty and rep, most jobs are "already pushing their budget", so that likely won't happen soon.
I just walked a large job for a consult on URC TC and stated right up front that we need to own the network, no Telco or EU supplied gear if they want it to work right. Make it part of the budget. If their budgets are really pushing envelope, the integrators who are running into maxed out budgets aren't doing their job correctly. Once the system requirements are discovered and BEFORE a single piece is spec'd, the point must be made that the network needs to meet certain criteria. Only then, can the rest of the system work as planned. We don't make much on most TVS or BD players, we have to at least come close to many online prices or risk losing that part of the sale and the actual sale of Sonos is more of a favor than a way to make money on the product. These loss-leaders do, however, come with the possibility to make money on the installation, parts sales and setup, so it's not a waste of our time. That said, a system consisting of a boatload of really good equipment on a network that frequently loses connections, slows down because it's being overtaxed and needs to be reset on a regular basis CAN'T be considered to be "well-designed". If someone's budget is maxed out and the integrator didn't tell them they should leave about 10% on the table for contingencies, I'd say it's the integrator's fault. It's OUR job to find out what the client wants, it's often OUR job to read between the lines when they don't tell us everything and it's OUR job to deliver on our perceived promises but if we don't explain the importance of quality network equipment in a way they understand, we'll have little chance of being 'finished' with the job because of the return trips.

Uh, you sure about that? contrary to what you may think, you DO NOT know it all.

The demo app does not show any settings or anything. I assume this is simply removed from the demo but part of the actually app? Was just curious about zone naming, tone control, and other basic settings.

Alarm clock? Sleep timer? There are several SONOS features not in thedemo app. But the killer for me is still lack of support for high res. Their AVRs support it. Presumably over a WiFi connection as well. It was said in the IP thread that it would not support high res. at launch.....indicating that it may be capable with an update. Same story with NAS support.
I think they should have made a truly portable unit at launch to. A battery powered, weather resistant outcast-esque unit would have put them over the top. Time will tell how well it does. Hopefully well. Competition is good and SONOS has had none in nearly 10 years. It is only a matter of time before someone comes along and equals or betters their offerings.

While bashing Denon AVRs elsewhere, you are ready to jump in to your elbows with a new product from the same company. Although Sonos does not integrate the way we would like, it is the closest thing to a trouble free high tech device we have seen. They have a ten year head start on making this thing work. I'll watch from the sidelines for awhile on this one. Haven't had a single client not like Sonos yet.

There is no truth anymore. Only assertions. The internet world has no interest in truth, only vindication for preconceived assumptions. |

I just set up my Heos 3, app is ok- my fiancee said it was too masculine looking (whatever that means). Signing into the Heos account was easy, setting up Pandora, Tune-in was fine.
I read that local sources for audio would be lacking, I hooked up a Toshiba flash drive with 65,000 songs- took a minute but every song was populated very fast, recall is quick. Compared to the Nuvo the Heos does very well in this area.
I am hoping for a Savant Systems profile, as well as a slick driver for RTI- The Nuvo Profile with Savant was a huge let down.
I ordered a Sonos baseball hat from ebay for $8.99- very hard to come by.. I would like to see a HEOS hat with just the logo soon :-)

I got a demo HEOS 3 and 5 today from Denon via accomodation and they sound really, really good. the app is super easy and setup was a breeze. They put out a TON of sound with Suprising bass. if the preamp/amp pieces work this good - they will be a stong competitor.
