CE Pro mag has a current article: "CE's Top Trend ---Whining". I read and re-read it, I find it a little insulting to a lot of us who work hard to keep up with this stuff, and then to be branded as whiners, by an industry publication. What do you think? Just sayin'.

Ed will be known as the Tiger Woods of the integration business, followed closely with the renaming of his company to "Hotties A/V". The tag line will be "We like big racks and tight holes"... |

Well, just that we are all complaining about the article kind of proves the point of it.
I hate Sonos, but I still sell it ;-)

:( +1 I wonder if she and any others that agree with her would feel the same way if they were in the front lines. I try to keep much of my frustrations off the forums, but sometimes you have to vent.

Yeah that article is kind of d!ck move.
I have a great idea, lets degrade the only people that read our magazine. We dont care about 4K, Low cost Automation, Enterprise networks, or any other new toy.
We are buyers advocates. We have to be the filter for our clients. We feed our families off this stuff and refuse to get service calls on Sunday morning for crappy gear.
It may be limiting but we just cant afford to jump on the shiny new thing every time. I did with prodigy and wont do it again.
Do we complain about crap like Sonos in Costco and Target? yes because they never told us that was their intention. The CI world built a ton of these brands with our hard work and effort. So when they throw us off to the side we complain.
CEpro is in a uniquely small industry. Screw you and what you think of us. stop sending me your crappy magazine full of one paragraph articles and hundreds of adds.

I think the larger point of the article is that we are slow to accept change. That is what I gleaned from the article. I have this wise friend who sort of poo-poohs my complaining and he embraces things a lot of us would complain about. It is all about perspective and making these products work so we can all make money.
Bad and evil marketing geniuses: Apple Sonos Nest Bose That ice cream truck ------>Samsung<-------- maybe just evil, and maybe too much of genius they can't see the forest for the trees. The US Treasury Sham-Wow And many more-
Point is- I am starting to realize people think of me by the way I speak about the products I love or hate. If I say that wifi connected radio/speaker device works well but their API is closed, therefore they suck. The person I am saying that to will see me as immature, negative, ignorant, held back, likes to lick paint on the window sill, etc.
However- pointing out to the world that trusted experienced business owners, techs, and programmers are a bunch of ingrate babies is seriously not cool...at all, because we are your readership base... And we read your articles... A lot. Sometimes twice because of the pictures, and comments. We overlook stale ideas by writers who have to try and shoot from the hip to make a good story, because everyday a new one is required...e v e r y d a y.
Just sayin
