I thought you weren't allowed to use that until after Christmas Day.....

Thanks Zohan, I just ordered one to try. Looks CAS.
I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other.

No problem....glad it's a hit. I've been using it almost daily for a week, and it is dead on accurate not just to the stud, but to the MIDDLE of the stud.
Keep in mind it won't sense voltage. Mr. Murphy reminded me on Wednesday that he is always lurking....

For the Canadian orders - Looks like they are back ordered for me. Has anyone else seen theirs yet?

Don't rely on the middle dot too much to determine the middle of the stud. The sensor spacing is such that you need to find both of the outer limits of when the LEDs change from one group of three to another.

I noted earlier that the unit needed AC scan, I guess you found out why. My DMM is the Fluke Electricians model [Link: fluke.com] and I find that the AC sensor is pretty reliable. I'm keeping my old Zircon around just in case too.

Lol...while mounting above a fireplace hit the bx cable running through a stud close to the front. A circuit went out. The circuit that was powering their front lights, and cable modem / internet / phone.
I ran an extension cord temporarily and had my electrician come over and fix it. It was not the feed only a jumper that was shorting out so it could have been worse.

Update on this......mine went bad, lights blink on and off then go off completely, randomly back on again. It might be because i was tossing it around and into the tool carrier, i dont know. I contacted franklin sensors and no questions asked sent me a return shipping lablel. I did order another one though, so we'll see....

I'm on my forth one since you told us about it few months ago.
As soon as I got my first one and told a friend about it, he came and took it from me.
So I ordered two more, and both of those were taken before I even put batteries in them.
This last one I'm not telling anyone about, so I might get to keep it for few weeks :-)
If I marked them up even just a bit, I could do this full time; instead I just collected the 50 bucks each for everyone I handed over. Come to think about it, I lost money on the first one as I handed it over with batteries inside :-)
I guess that makes me stud pimp.

I've really enjoyed using mine, but you do have to be careful with the unit. It's not something you can just throw in the toolbox.

Great little tool. I am planning to glue a little level on it to make it multi-purpose. Lee Valley is now carrying it if you have one near you.

That seems like a bad idea. How will you know if you get the level on it perfectly straight, or that the stud finder is perfectly square?
