Mogul, thank you. I'm glad you said it. I agree. In a pinch, I mount speakers with poster putty too. Love that stuff.

Ive been taught that tapcons go into the morter only if its newer mortor since its harder then the brick, But redheads always go into the brick!

I typically use wedge style anchors and drill all the way through the masonay where I can. That way, if you ever have to move or remove the anchor you can remove the the washer/nut and tap/push the anchor all the way back into the hole and fill with mortar.
