Just thought I would mention that the client boxes can be RF. Most important design flaw is the power supply for the client boxes. The client box could fit behind a tv with say a tilt mount but the power supply is thicker than the client box. WTF?

Why do they make this giant power supply an make it thicker than the client box?

Is anyone having issues with the Genie's and/or clients? We have ran into a couple of jobs where the clients are locking up and needing reboots every couple of days. I looked on DBSTalk and it seems like it's a common problem.

I think they expect the installer to mount the power supply down low at the AC outlet height, run the low voltage inside the wall to power the box on the TV.

The tech I talked to installing the Genie system said on initial startup, the client boxes will give a grey screen and have to be reset over and over until the installation is complete. After the installation the customer complained about the client boxes no working even with a reset. I reset the main tuner and everything started working again. So note to self, reset main Tuner and it seems to fix client boxes.

I have a client who wants two HR34s and 4 slaves.

Has any one done this? Will it work?

I will already be installing a swm16 to bump up the # of tuners.

3x C31 to each HR34 if you want it to work correctly. IR/RF setup is in normal setup menu. I did a system last week with 4x C31 and an HR34 and found out the hard way you can't have them all on at the same time. RF remotes DO NOT ship with the units, an have not by default with any directv setup for quite some time now.

We got a genie system in for a client. 1 HR34 and 3 C31 clients, In the box of stuff there were 5 remotes, 4 IR and 1 RF....same as last genie system we got in. Not sure on setting RF as we used the IR remotes in 2 rooms and RTI in the other 2. We did have to do a SW update as the HR34 locked up 2 times in about 30 minutes after install, seems to be OK now. You have to use the DECABB to get internet into the system, just plagging a LAN cable into the HR34 wont work properly I have been told.

Correct, you need to use a deca injector for systemwide ethernet.
