I was in Idaho doing a remote installation last week, and none of the supplied remotes had the FCC sticker.  Fortunately, it was a vactaion house and I had my Portland client bring several of the unused RF untis from home.

weaknees says RF remotes are optional. I'm meeting DirecTV at a client's home on Wednesday to install this and will report back as to whether they bring the RF remotes that I specifically requested.
A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything.

They have a new RF model for the Genie, you can also use the old ones too.

I'm headed out next week to install a dual 16 swm system because the client is out of room for more tuners.
I'm also installing seven more TV's to add to the 12 that he already has.
Two locations will have three TV's (picture by a picture!) and one on the patio as well as a large matrix and a control system

All of the parts have arrived at his home, and then he mentioned adding a genie.
I have the "white papers" on making the whole home work when splitting switches.

It will be interesting to see how this works out!

I have a system out there with (2) SWM16s running off one DECA unit. Client has 1 Genie, and I believe 6 HD DVRs. Works just fine including home sharing. Here is what I used to make it work

(2) DirecTV SWM16
(2) DirecTV PI29 power supply
(1) DirecTV MSPLIT4 (Green label 4 way SWM splitter)
(1) Sonora SWM-E2 Expander
(4) Sonora SDSWM-D2 Diplexers

You'll still need the 2 additional SWM splitters per SWM16.

Not via RF, the new rc71 remote uses a different RF frequency then previous Directv remotes. But, yes they do use the same IR codeset.

That's my parts list.

In theory,it sounded like the home sharing should work.
It's encouraging to know that it actually does!

Their DTV installer told them that he did't think it was possible!

So with this client system, does anyone install the clients back at the rack with the Genie and then operate the client from the remote room or does each client reside in a dedicated room?

I have DirecTV coming tomorrow to my house to do the install. How many RG6Q should I run to the dish? I don't want these buffoons turning my house to swiss cheese, so I'll be doing the runs to my demarc before they arrive. I'm doing the Genie plus 3 clients.
I haven't done a dish install since "black Sunday" way back. :)
TIA

I'll run 4 to the attic area, but only penetrate with one out to dish location.

One SWM LNB will support 8 tuners.
If you need more you need a 4 output LNB and SWM16 installed.

Make sure you run solid core not copper clad, especially from the power inserter....and you don't really need the quad shield

Is the C31 client also on the network? If I use a deca does the C31 get its own IP address? If yes, is the C31 IP controllable?

Don't forget a ground wire, from the dish/mast to somewhere...

How commonly do people fudge the dish ground to a grounded outlet, or to cold water? Just curious.
