Hey All,
We recently built and installed a bunch of new computers for a customer in Boulder.
Through some miracle of bookeeping snafu-ness...we built two machines too many. We have one sold, but one to go, so here are the particulars of this machine, in case any of you are looking for a new PC.
Intel Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz Hyper-Threading Chip w/800Mhz Front Side Bus...
Intel D865PERLK Motheboard with GigbitLan and Dolby Digital Sound Card
1.24 (512X2) Gig of DDR400 Ram
ATI Radeon 9600XT Pro 128MB AGP Video Card Dual Head with VGA and DVI out
Samsung DVD/CD-RW Drive
Western Digital 120Gb 7200 RPM HDD
Samsung Floppy Drive
8 USB 2.0 Ports
2 IEEE1394 (firewire) Ports
Hauppauge WinTV401 TV/FM Radio Tuner Card with IR Remote
THREE 80MM Fans, with full onboard control and monitoring
Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Microsoft Multi-Media Keyboard/Mouse combo
3 year parts warranty
I NEED to sell this machine and will SCREAM it out the door...try building this machine on any major manufacturers web-site, then E-mail me for my price.
This is posted in the marketplace as well...
Thanks guys,
AVDUDE

Can't say that I need a new machine, but this reminds me of something that has happened to me a few times.
Have you ever been stopped on the road by a couple guys in a white van waving at you like crazy ... they say that they are "custom installers" and checked out with 4 pair of "TOTALLY KICK ASS" speakers, but they got 6 pair instead & will make you a killer deal ......

LOL Dentist that has MAJOR graphics needs...digital imaging x-rays and intra-oral cameras... Not sure what Rocks post was supposed to mean...but I think most of the regular RC'ers here know this is a legit overstock! avdude

Hey Rock, You from Long Island? These guys try and catch you at the gas station all the time. My favorites are the speakers that need antifreeze running through the tubes so they keep cool cause thry're so powerful! But they'll give em to me for $250 a pair. F'n toolboxes! Mike

Soulds a lot like my Gaming Machine I'm currently building... Except I'm moving up to a 64Bit AMD/Abit MB
I question the use of a 9600XT for a pro machine.... Great resonably priced Gaming card, but definatly no Matrox......

avdude Of course, I did not mean to imply that you were attempting to ruse anyone ... it just made me think of the "white van" sales men. Enjoy. (Mike, I am in Chicago so apparently this marketing technique is nationwide !)

Jesus Impaqt...I just need to sell the damn machine...it was built to suit based on his software's specification for what it likes to play with. But if we're going to nitpick...I would question the use of AMD/ASUS in anything serious these days! He he he... :-) avdude

Abit.... Not Asus... Not a fan of Asus..
Nitpicking... Maybe... But the use of the 9600XT should make it much more apealing to anyone who'd like to buy it....
I'm an Overclocker.......... Toasted a few P4's... Thus the switch to AMD... And now the first 64bit processors (Not that anything can use it yet)

ooopsie....mis-read that!
I KNEW you were an overclocker...I bet you have a Cummins Turbo Diesel Dodge that cranks out 1400 Lb/FT torque and 900 HP too huh?
How much faster DO we need than 2.5 to 3.5GIG with 800Mhz FSB???
:-)

I've been approached by a couple of those white van salesman. The were peddling "Dogg" Speakers, and showed me a professional looking catalog with the price 1000 each.
Furthermore, a guy came into my store once with a pair the got from the white van guys. It was a huge tower with a bunch of drivers, but the guy was complaining it sounded like crap. After opening it up I saw only one of each driver worked (1 mid range, 1 woofer, 1 tweeter) and the rest had no magnets. Needless to say, even the active driver sound horrible.
But heres the topper, and I have seen this same thing twice. Someone came in with a camcorder the bought from a white van salesman. (With a fake "sony" sticker on the side) They are looking for a tape they can use. After opening the camcorder and after a long inspection. We find a spot for two media devices. A spot for a roll of camera film, and a spot for an audio cassette, with a light powered by AA batteries. Their was no cassette head, however, just a drive to make it look like it was working. On the upside though, it did take pictures okay :)

but definatly no Matrox...... Yeah - cause ATI is still in business. And for Asus, they make some of the best video cards out there. The 9600XT is only acceptable for gaming and by no means capable of full blown 1200x1600 HL2. Asus motherboards are typically great except for the kv8 deluxe that had bad caps. And AVDUDE AMD doesn't by any means suck. For gaming AMD is better. I am typing this on a custom P3.06 that I would trade in a second for a AMD64 - or even a 2500 for that matter. Everyone have a great and dafe weekend.

Matrox is very much still in business and build the best commertial and application specific graphic cards on the market. Period. http://www.matrox.com I wouldn't think of putting anything other than a Matrox Parhelia in a CAD station.... and most professionals agree with me. As for the Asus video cards, I'm sure they are fine. Havent used em..... But I have toasted their motherboards before.......

If I was going to build another gaming machine, I would go with the hyperthreading Intel.
2 things kill those of us who are addicted to MMRPG's... lag, and lack of processor power.
With the HT processor, you can run 2 instances of even the most demanding game and not have any problems. You can't do that with a 64 bit AMD... (why run 2 instances of the same game? Buffbots FTW!)
